Sessions on mindfulness, yoga, Zumba, nutrition and universal human values to take centre stage

Ahmedabad, June 10: Mindfulness and well-being have never been more crucial than in today’s fast-paced and highly interconnected world. Acknowledging this aspect, MICA, Ahmedabad’s orientation programme, this year will host a series of sessions focussing on the well-being of the incoming students.
The institute will orient nearly 235 students across three programmes: MICA’s flagship Post-Graduate Programme (PGP – PGDMC and PGDM), Crafting Creative Communications (CCC), and Fellow Programme in Management (FPM). A power-packed orientation programme, beginning June 11, will include various sessions on Yoga, mindfulness, breathing techniques, Zumba, and health nutrition, to name a few.
Delving more into the orientation design, the Co-chairs of the Orientation Committee, Prof. Shubhra Gaur and Prof. Mini Mathur, said, “The Orientation programme focusses on the city, campus, community, career and the self. We aim to sensitise our new students to core MICA and human values like respect for diversity, equity, inclusivity, creativity, innovation, and sustainability. Special emphasis is given to holistic health comprising of prana (breathing), aasanas, high-intensity workouts, and a session on mental health by our in-house doctor and counselor.”
The orientation programme 2023, spanning over two weeks, is designed to be an exciting mix of engaging topics and activities. There will be 5 MICA alum talks by Nupur Agarwal, Media Account Specialist at Google, Yogesh Gajria, Product Lead at Amazon Music, Anshul Duggal, Founder and CEO, Flynt.com, Maltesh Ashrit, Engagement Manager at Fractal and Tanasha Anish Amlani, Brand Manager at Tanishq.
A session titled ‘Dealing with AI as a MICA student’ will acquaint the students with new ways to engage with the ever-changing world.
“Considering the significance of contemporary business practices for future managers, there is a session on implications and challenges of generative artificial intelligence, besides two industry panels”, they added.
The orientation program’s chief guest, Basant Rathore, Senior VP – Strategy, Brand, and Business Development Jagran Prakashan Ltd. and a MICA alum, will share his mantras to inspire the new batch.
