Surat Students Gear Up for State Science Exhibition

Over 60 student projects were showcased at a district science exhibition held at SVNIT, Surat, organized by GUJCOST. Top entries will move to the state-level round in Gandhinagar

Surat, July 10: A remarkable Science Exhibition featuring creative projects by school students was organized by the Gujarat Council on Science & Technology (GUJCOST) and the Community Science Centre, Surat, under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat. The event was hosted at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat.

 

Students from various schools across Surat district participated enthusiastically, showcasing over 60 science models in five categories including Energy, Transport & Innovation, Cleanliness & Health, Agriculture, and Environmental Concerns. The young scientists creatively presented working models demonstrating their understanding of real-world challenges and scientific solutions.

 

Presiding over the event, the Chief Guest, District Education Officer (DEO) of Surat, emphasized the importance of hands-on scientific exposure for students. He noted that such platforms are vital to nurture innovation, curiosity, and critical thinking among youth.

 

Exhibition evaluators, including experts from academia and industry, engaged with students and assessed the projects based on originality, application, and presentation. Select projects will be nominated to represent Surat at the state-level exhibition in Gandhinagar.

 

In his address, GUJCOST’s Joint Director praised the district’s growing culture of scientific inquiry and commended the participating schools for encouraging students to think beyond textbooks.

 

The event also highlighted the increasing participation of girls in science and technology, with several female students presenting innovative and socially relevant models.

 

Organizers declared the exhibition a grand success and expressed hope that such initiatives would inspire students to pursue science as a career path and contribute to India’s technological advancement.
