Ahmedabad, July 13: In a landmark move to streamline the process of articleship placements, the Chartered Accountants Association, Ahmedabad (CAAA), is set to host the city’s first-ever Articleship Mela on Monday, July 14, 2025, at the CAAA premises.
This unique, offline placement platform is designed to bring together first-year CA students and article-seeking firms under one roof through a structured, smart-matching approach.
Giving details about the initiative, CA Rushabh Shah, President of CAAA, said, “This initiative goes beyond a typical job fair. It introduces a structured matchmaking process where students are asked to share their preferred practice areas—such as Audit, Taxation, GST, or Internal Audit—and geographical preferences. CA firms register with their own selection filters. Based on this, both parties are mapped through a smart dashboard, allowing for effective shortlisting and on-the-spot interviews during the Mela.”
CA Rushabh emphasised that completing articleship is a mandatory and crucial phase of practical training for every CA student—it is only after this stage that they qualify as Chartered Accountants. Therefore, offering students the flexibility to choose their preferred field and the location of the CA firm for their articleship will be a significant support and convenience.
Participation is free for students, while firms pay a nominal fee of ₹1,000, which grants them access to the full student database and dashboard tools for pre-event filtering and interview planning. With over 2000 members in this CA body it conducts several
“This is a much-needed transformation,” added CA Shah. “When I was a student, we didn’t have such focused options. This marks a new era where students can meet firms aligned to their interests, saving time and eliminating uncertainty.”
CA Bishan Shah, Chief Coordinator of the Articleship Mela and Member of the WIRC of ICAI, echoed the sentiment: “This is a much-needed reform in how article placements are managed. We are eliminating randomness and introducing structure, so students are aligned with the right firms and firms meet candidates who are serious, focused, and matched to their requirements.”
The event addresses a key challenge in the CA ecosystem. CA Ashish Sharma, Honorary Secretary of CAAA, pointed out, “Many students travel from Rajasthan, MP, even Maharashtra for articleship interviews. This Mela offers a one-stop solution. If successful, we plan to host similar events every few months.”
CA Dr. Anjali Choksi, Vice President of CAAA, highlighted the growing diversity in the profession: “This platform bridges the gap between student aspirations and firm requirements. The profession has become especially appealing for young women—many of whom are now topping exams, entering councils, and leading committees.”

CA Sulabh Padshah, Joint Secretary, added, “Students who haven’t registered online can also opt for spot registration and still get interviewed in their chosen area of interest.”
The technology-driven dashboard developed by CA Rushabh Shah uses AI-enabled tools to filter student-firm matches by practice area and location. “Around 50% of students have opted for traditional areas like Audit and Tax, while others show growing interest in startups, finance, and tech-driven fields,” he noted.
With a legacy of over 70 years, the Chartered Accountants Association, Ahmedabad continues to pioneer initiatives aligned with the evolving needs of the profession. The Articleship Mela is a bold step toward creating a transparent, efficient, and student-centric CA ecosystem.
As anticipation builds, the overwhelming response from both students and firms signals the beginning of a new chapter in CA training and placement.
