In a heartfelt initiative to promote mental wellness and spiritual calm among defence personnel, a statue of Lord Buddha was unveiled on July 14, 2025, at the Shahibaug Cantonment in Ahmedabad.
The installation was dedicated to soldiers and their families by Mrs. Ramandeep Bagga, Chairperson of the Golden Katar Family Welfare Organisation (FWO).
Speaking at the inauguration, Mrs. Bagga emphasized the statue’s symbolic significance, describing it as “a beacon of serenity” and a “source of calmness and strength” for those serving in uniform and their loved ones. “In today’s world, filled with conflicts, challenges, and uncertainties, Lord Buddha’s timeless message of peace, harmony, and compassion resonates more deeply than ever,” she said.
She commended the planners, designers, and artisans involved in conceptualizing and crafting the tranquil space, which has been designed as a place for reflection and relaxation within the military environment. “This sacred installation is not just a statue—it’s a space to nurture inner peace, promote understanding, and encourage community living,” she added.
The initiative by the Golden Katar FWO is part of its broader mission to support the welfare and morale of defence families. The serene setting of the Buddha statue is expected to become a soothing retreat for soldiers seeking moments of mindfulness amid their demanding duties.
