1. Cornflakes Mixture (Cereal Chivda)
🕒 Prep + Cook Time: 15–20 minutes
👥 Serves: 4–6
Ingredients:
- 2 cups plain unsweetened cornflakes
- ½ cup fried peanuts
- ¼ cup fried cashews
- ¼ cup roasted chana dal (dalia)
- 8–10 curry leaves
- 2–3 green chillies (slit)
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp oil
- Optional: Raisins, thin sev, or sliced dry coconut for variation
Method:
- Heat oil in a wide pan. Add curry leaves and green chillies. Sauté for a few seconds.
- Add peanuts, cashews, and chana dal. Roast until crisp.
- Add turmeric, sugar, and salt.
- Add cornflakes and toss gently on low flame for 3–4 minutes until everything is evenly coated and crisp.
- Cool completely and store in an airtight container.

2. Poha Chivda (Thin Flattened Rice Snack Mix)
🕒 Prep + Cook Time: 20 minutes
👥 Serves: 6–8
- Ingredients:
3 cups thin poha (nylon or paper poha) - ½ cup peanuts
- ¼ cup roasted chana dal
- ¼ cup cashew nuts
- 8–10 curry leaves
- 2 dry red chillies (broken)
- 1–2 green chillies (slit or chopped) – optional
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- 1½ tsp sugar
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
Method:
- Dry roast the poha in a wide kadhai on low flame for 4–5 mins until crisp. Keep aside.
- In the same kadhai, heat oil. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and chillies. Let them splutter.
- Add peanuts, cashews, and roasted chana dal. Fry until golden.
- Add turmeric, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Add roasted poha. Toss gently for 2–3 mins to combine well.
- Cool completely and store in an airtight jar.
