Wagh Bakri Tea Group, one of India’s most trusted tea brands, has entered the super-premium segment with Wagh Bakri Royale, its most refined blend since the company’s founding in 1892.

What Makes Royale Special

Wagh Bakri Group brings the magic of handpicked Camellia sinensis leaves to tea lovers with the launch of their exotic ‘Royale’ blend. Specially crafted and presented in elegant carton packaging, it promises a rich and refined tea experience.

The aroma of tradition met the elegance of modern taste as Paras Desai, Executive Director and fourth-generation leader of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group, unveiled the company’s latest offering—Wagh Bakri Royale—a super-premium blend crafted for discerning tea lovers.

Speaking to BILKUONLINE, Desai expressed with pride, “Wagh Bakri means Chai, and Chai means Wagh Bakri— as far as Gujarat is concerned. Many other parts of the country are following suit. We are deeply thankful for the trust and confidence our consumers have bestowed upon us. They love our tea, they swear by our tea. Some prefer it as black tea, some as Kahva, others enjoy green tea, or a creamy cup with milk—our vast variety is crafted to suit every palate.”

Revealing the market nuances, Desai shared, “When we speak of tea consumption per person in terms of kilograms, Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab lead. But when it comes to quality, it is Gujarat and Maharashtra that set the benchmark. The export of our tea accounts for 10 percent of our turnover.”

Turning to the launch, Desai said, “Today, we present ‘Royale’—a tea that is fair priced and is more than a beverage; it’s a bond steeped in heritage and finished with a note of sophistication for today’s generation of tea drinkers”.

Adding further depth, Sanjay Singal, CEO of Wagh Bakri Tea Group and former COO at ITC, reflected on the brand’s journey, “After water, tea is the second most consumed and popular beverage in the world. Wagh Bakri Tea, one of India’s most iconic and trusted tea brands, is now entering the super-premium tea segment with the launch of Wagh Bakri Royale—our most refined blend in 130 years.”

Crafted with precision from 100% handpicked Assam leaves, the blend combines high-grown long leaf tea with robust CTC teas, delivering a bold flavour, a vibrant Kesari hue, and a layered, lingering aroma designed for true tea connoisseurs.

Singal emphasised the shifting tastes of the market, “This is our finest blend to date. The aspirational generation is driving a trend towards premiumisation, and customers today are willing to invest in the best. Wagh Bakri Royale offers not just taste, but a luxurious tea experience. This marks our first major entry into the black tea category in nearly three decades, beginning with Ahmedabad and Vadodara, before brewing its way into other
From the first whiff of the dry leaves to the last golden drop in the cup, Wagh Bakri Royale is poised to become a fragrant bridge between the brand’s 130-year-old legacy and the sophisticated tastes of modern India.

The Wagh Bakri Story – Brewing Unity Since 1892

Founded by Shri Narandas Desai in 1892, the brand’s origins trace back to his successful tea plantations in South Africa. Facing racial discrimination under apartheid, Desai returned to India with a recommendation letter from Mahatma Gandhi, whom he befriended during his time abroad.

Gandhiji’s ideals inspired the company’s iconic logo — a tiger and a goat sharing tea — symbolising unity during the Quit India movement. For over 130 years, the Desai family has personally overseen quality, ensuring every cup builds not just flavour, but relationships.

With Royale, Wagh Bakri is not just a brewing tea – its brewing heritage, craftsmanship, and an elevated drinking experience for the modern consumer.
