Ahmedabad, 28 Aug 2025:
Water — the very essence of life — is today the world’s most pressing challenge. While climate change, overpopulation, and exploitation of resources push the Earth towards a severe water crisis, India stands at the frontline of this battle. Yet, amid despair, one farmer’s son from Gujarat has turned hope into reality, scripting a story that the world now calls a Water Revolution.
On 31st August, Gujarat will witness the formal release of ‘Jalkranti Granth’, authored by Mansukhbhai Suvagiya, widely celebrated as the pioneer of water revolution in Gujarat. The book will be unveiled by Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, in the presence of dignitaries and well-wishers at the Leuva Patel Samaj, Kelvani Dham Nikol.

At the media briefing ahead of the launch, Mansukhbhai was joined by the organisers, including Ravjibhai Vasani and Vallabh Bapa — both respected business leaders known for their compassion and commitment to social causes. Also present was Ashvin Jivani, spokesperson of the Jalkranti Trust and translator of the Vedas, who emphasized the depth of Mansukhbhai’s work and its relevance for generations to come.

The Humble Revolutionary
- What makes Mansukhbhai’s journey remarkable is his simplicity. With no formal engineering education or professional training, he relied only on his instinct, his devotion to his native village Jhamka, and an unshakable love for the land. In the 1980s, when Gujarat’s villages faced severe drought, animals perished, families migrated, and groundwater ran dangerously low, Mansukhbhai resolved to fight back.
- Through his vision of 5 to 51 check dams per village, community participation, and innovative low-cost designs, he founded the Jalkranti Trust, mobilizing 50,000 people for water conservation. His efforts led to over 3,200 check dams and ponds being constructed across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, boosting rural agricultural incomes by crores annually. It was this transformation that earned him the title of “Encyclopedia of Water Restoration and Conservation.”
The ‘Jalkranti Granth’: Knowledge for Generations
The 225-page ‘Jalkranti Granth’, originally written in Gujarati after 97 days of retreat at Tapovan Vidyapeeth in Barda Dungar, is much more than a book. It is a treasury of wisdom — chronicling not only the past experiences of Mansukhbhai’s tireless efforts but also offering scientific insights on hydrology, rain cycles, and groundwater testing, blended with spiritual reflections on nature’s balance.
The book is expected to be published in Gujarati, Hindi, and English, and shared with 200 countries. Already, it has been hailed by scholars as a world-inspiring history of hydrology and water revolution.

Legacy of Inspiration
Mansukhbhai’s movement did not happen in isolation. It was supported and inspired by Sanad Mehta, Gujarat’s prominent politician and dedicated social activist, who was deeply committed to water conservation in those difficult years. His guidance and efforts further strengthened the vision that today stands as a model for the nation.
A Legacy Beyond Borders
Mansukhbhai’s story proves that revolutions don’t always need grand titles or scientific laboratories — sometimes, they begin with a farmer’s son, a parched village, and an unyielding will. His humility and selfless dedication to saving water stand as a beacon for the entire world, showing how local action can create global impact.
Mansukhbhai Suvagiya has been devotedly working on four key processes and themes rooted in nature — organic farming, organic seeds and mango cultivation, the Divya Gram Yojna, along with the monumental task of water conservation, which he has successfully led and mastered.
As Gujarat prepares to celebrate the release of ‘Jalkranti Granth’ on August 31, the message resounds louder than ever: water is life, and its conservation is humanity’s greatest duty.
