IASEW and WIEGO Host 5-Day Asia Training of Trainers Workshop in Ahmedabad to Empower Informal Workers

The International Alliance of Street and Essential Workers (IASEW), in collaboration with WIEGO School, has launched a five-day international workshop titled “Workers’ Education for Workers’ Power – Asia Tsraining of Trainers” at its Ahmedabad office. The initiative brings together 22 worker leaders from eight countries and four sectors to strengthen leadership and educational skills within the informal economy.

                                                                                             

Nominated by HomeNet International (HNI), StreetNet International (SNI), the International Alliance of Waste Pickers (IAWP), and the International Domestic Workers’ Federation (IDWF), the participants are engaging in an intensive curriculum rooted in solidarity and collective empowerment.

Speaking about the workshop, IASEW representatives emphasized that the event marks a celebration of cross-border solidarity and workers’ resilience. “Education is power. By learning together, we not only strengthen our organizations but also contribute to the broader global movement of informal workers,” the statement highlighted.

 The workshop reflects a growing recognition of the crucial role that worker education plays in empowering leaders from informal sectors, enabling them to advocate for their rights and build sustainable collective power.
