Ahmedabad, September 2025: Bavishi Eye Hospital, a pioneer in advanced eye care since 1965, is celebrating 60 years of trust, experience, and excellence. Founded by renowned ophthalmologist Dr. Anil K. Bavishi with just ₹2,000 and modest facilities at Relief Road, Ahmedabad, the hospital has grown into a premier institution serving over two million patients from India and abroad.

Dr. Anil Bavishi was among the first in India to introduce refractive surgery after training in Russia, start microscope-assisted eye surgery, and train more than 100 ophthalmologists as a professor of ophthalmology. He also introduced LASIK surgery to Gujarat in 1998 and earned recognition as a leading strabismologist (squint specialist).

The hospital expanded in 1991 with its Nehru Nagar branch. Carrying forward the legacy, Dr. Darshin Bavishi, who completed his MS in Ophthalmology in 1993 and FRCS in the UK, returned to India in 1999 to strengthen the institution. Known for his expertise in phacoemulsification and refractive surgery, he contributed significantly to academic and surgical advancements in the field.

In 2021, the third generation, Dr. Alap Bavishi, joined the hospital after training at Aravind Eye Hospital and completing a fellowship in Medical Retina. Under his leadership, Bavishi Eye Hospital launched its third centre at Isanpur in 2023.
