BSNL Marks 25 Years with Nationwide 4G Expansion, Boosting Connectivity in Rural Gujarat

PM Modi Launches BSNL’s Indigenous 4G Network; 600 Towers to Connect Gujarat’s Remote Villages

A Navratri Gift: Gujarat CM Hails PM Modi’s 4G Rollout as Step Toward ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched BSNL’s indigenous 4G network from Jharsuguda, Odisha, marking a milestone in India’s digital journey. The nationwide rollout, aligned with BSNL’s silver jubilee celebrations, will activate over 92,000 locally built 4G towers, including 4,000 in Gujarat, of which more than 600 will serve remote tribal and hilly belts.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel joined the virtual launch event from Gandhinagar’s Mahatma Mandir alongside Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Calling it a festive gift during Navratri and Diwali, Patel said, “When the country is celebrating the worship of Adi Shakti, the Prime Minister has gifted the people an indigenous 4G network, a true symbol of Atmanirbhar Bharat.”

The Chief Minister underlined that India has transformed from a consumer market into a global solutions provider. “Today, it is not just Made in India for India, but Made in India, Made for the World. More than 11,000 villages in Gujarat will directly benefit from this project,” he added.

Union Minister Mandaviya described the launch as “a matter of national pride,” likening it to India’s success in producing vaccines during the pandemic. He stressed that indigenous technology will continue to strengthen India’s self-reliance in critical sectors.

With this launch, officials said, India now joins a select group of nations that have developed their own 4G telecom ecosystem. The event, themed ‘Gaurav se kaho, ye swadeshi hai’ (Say with pride, this is indigenous), was attended virtually by chief ministers of several states, industry leaders, and citizens from rural communities.

The 4G saturation project, spanning 97,500 new sites nationwide, is expected to revolutionise digital connectivity in rural and underserved regions, empowering e-governance, education, healthcare, and digital commerce as BSNL celebrates 25 years of service.
