Ahmedabad, October 06, 2025:

GREENS 2026 – the Global Recycling Expo & Summit – organised jointly by SALT Alliances and the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI), will be held on 4, 5 and 6 June 2026 at the Helipad Exhibition Centre, Gandhinagar. The announcement was officially made on Monday – October 6, at a ceremony held in Ahmedabad by GCCI and SALT Alliances.

Despite being a developing economy, India has set ambitious targets for energy transition by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2070, as the country recognises the importance of a green economy and its advantages for our future generations. GREENS 2026 has been organised coinciding with the World Environment Day 2026 (June 05). It will bring together global experts, policymakers, industry leaders and innovators on a single platform dedicated entirely to recycling, waste management and circular economy solutions.

Conceived as India’s first, large-scale initiative of its kind, GREENS 2026 is more than just an exhibition and conference, it is a movement designed to accelerate the country’s transition towards sustainable resource use and circular growth.

The event will draw participation from at least 350 exhibitors from across the waste-recycling value chain. Some 30 sessions led by international thought leaders will also be included as part of the event. GREENS 2026 is expected to draw participation of some 15,000 stakeholders, including corporates, recyclers, investors, startups, academic institutions, and government representatives.

At a time when India generates at least 165 million metric tonne (MMT) of waste annually, a figure projected to rise sharply in the coming years, the urgency of finding scalable solutions has never been greater and more dire. GREENS 2026 will spotlight innovations across material recycling, e‑waste, biomedical waste, municipal waste, wastewater recycling, hazardous and industrial waste management, waste‑to‑energy and air pollution control, while fostering dialogue on extended producer responsibility and circular design.

Hosting the summit in Gujarat – a state with progressive policies and pioneering initiatives in renewable energy, waste‑to‑energy and ship recycling – provides a strategic advantage and positions India as a leader in sustainable growth. According to a Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) report from 2021, Gujarat ranks among the states with the highest rate of Municipal Solid Waste treated at 85%. As per Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0 data, Gujarat has remediated 210 lakh MT of legacy waste out of 221 lakh MT from 140 dumpsites, successfully clearing 95% of accumulated waste. This places Gujarat at the top among major states in waste disposal efforts.

Sandeep Engineer, President, GCCI, said, “GREENS 2026 is a defining milestone in India’s sustainability journey. Gujarat has consistently led from the front with progressive environmental action, from renewable energy to advanced waste management. This summit will not only highlight pioneering solutions but also build enduring partnerships that convert vision into measurable outcomes. GCCI is proud to partner in this landmark initiative, which will accelerate innovation, stimulate policy dialogue and attract investment — all essential pillars for shaping a truly green economy.”

“GREENS 2026 is more than an event; it is a movement for transforming waste into value. Our goal is to create a vibrant platform where ideas meet action, and where stakeholders across sectors can collaborate to deliver sustainable solutions. We are excited to partner with GCCI to make GREENS 2026 a defining moment for India’s circular economy,” said  Ketan Prajapati, Director, SALT Alliances.

With the sector poised for rapid expansion and Gujarat setting benchmarks in waste management, GREENS 2026 will also underline the market potential of recycling as a sunrise industry.

Aditi Shukla, Director, SALT Alliances, said, “India’s recycling equipment market, valued at $1,723.4 million in 2023 and projected to reach $2,641.0 million by 2030, reflects the immense growth potential of this sector. GREENS 2026 is designed to catalyse this growth by bringing global technology, finance and policy together on one stage. By fostering cross-border collaboration and encouraging innovation, we want to ensure that recycling is seen not just as an environmental necessity, but as a driver of competitiveness and sustainable economic progress.”

GREENS 2026 aims to serve as a catalyst for collaboration, investment and policy convergence, reinforcing the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and supporting the nation’s Net Zero 2070 commitments. By positioning waste as a resource and circularity as a driver of competitiveness, GREENS 2026 aspires to become a sought-after global platform on the sustainability calendar, where economic growth and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.
