Preparations for the 567th annual Urs of the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Syed Muhammad Sirajuddin Shah-e-Alam Bukhari (RA) have begun with traditional enthusiasm at Shah-e-Alam, Ahmedabad, where his sacred shrine is located. With the sighting of the moon of Jumadil Akhir, the formal commencement of Urs activities has taken place. The Urs will be observed from the 15th to the 23rd of Jumadil Akhir.

Continuing a long-standing tradition, the ritual distribution of Boondi laddus took place after Maghrib prayers on the eve of the new moon. This year, special significance was added as descendants of Hazrat Shah-e-Alam, including Hazrat Syed Nazim Hussain Bukhari and Hazrat Syed Altaf Hussain Bukhari, arrived from the United States to participate in the ceremony.

Gathering in the Diwan Khana within the Dargah complex, they distributed 500 kilograms of laddus among devotees. Thousands of followers and visitors attended the ceremony, receiving the offerings with devotion and expressing joy at the commencement of the holy Urs celebrations.

The Shah-e-Alam Urs continues to remain one of Ahmedabad’s historically significant spiritual events, marked by faith, tradition, and community participation year after year.
