The city is gearing up for the 9th edition of the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon (AAM), set to unfold on Sunday, 30 November. With meticulous inter-agency coordination and extensive planning, organisers aim to deliver a smooth, secure, and world-class running experience to more than 24,000 participants.
At a joint press briefing, Adani Sportsline—supported by Ahmedabad Police, Traffic Police and the Health Department—outlined the final route logistics, safety plans and medical readiness. Race Director Dave Cundy shared that participation has surged by 33% this year, reinforcing AAM’s status as one of India’s premier distance-running events.
Now in its third year on the scenic course introduced in 2023, the marathon route passes through iconic city landmarks such as Atal Bridge, Gandhi Ashram and Ellis Bridge, offering athletes a picturesque and fast track.
Security, Traffic & Medical Preparedness
Hundreds of police personnel will be deployed across the route.
Seven police stations will be in direct sync to manage movement and emergencies.
The Traffic Police will enforce clear diversions, signage, and advisory systems for citizens.
KD Hospital, the official Medical Partner, has arranged:
- 21 medical booths along the course
- One critical care station at the holding area
- 108 ambulances strategically placed
- Hydration stations staffed by trained volunteers
Senior officials expressed confidence about event-day execution, emphasising safety, efficient coordination and an enjoyable race-day experience for both runners and citizens.
#Run4OurSoldiers
The marathon continues its powerful tribute theme, #Run4OurSoldiers, with over 4,000 armed forces personnel and police officers participating this year. The run commemorates the valour of India’s defence forces and honours Operation Sindoor. A major portion of proceeds supports the welfare of armed forces.
Sanjay Adesara, Chief Business Officer, Adani Sportsline, thanked all civic agencies and the people of Ahmedabad for their consistent support, calling the marathon “the only event in India with such strong participation from the armed forces.”
Meanwhile, the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon also unveiled its official jersey for the upcoming edition, specially designed by award-winning designer Aaquib Wani, at the city’s favourite destination, Palladium Mall, the event’s Mall Partner.
Welcoming new partners onboard, Sanjay Adesara, Chief Business Officer, said, “Adani Ahmedabad Marathon has evolved into a city-wide running festival that celebrates the energy and individuality of every participant. This year, with new-age brands like Myntra Sneaker Club, Flipkart Minutes, BMW Gallops Autohaus, Welspun Sintex, and Bisleri joining us, we’re adding a fresh dimension of fun and flair to the event.”
Launched in 2017, the AAM has earned admiration for its scenic route and disciplined execution. It was among the first Indian marathons to successfully host a physical run during the post-pandemic period using time-slot systems. Since 2022, it is Ahmedabad’s only marathon featured on the AIMS World Running – Global Marathon Event List. In 2024, the event saw participation from over 20,000 runners, reflecting its growing popularity.
