Spicy Masala Peanuts (Crispy Tea-Time Snack)

Ingredients:

  • Raw peanuts – 1 cup
  • Gram flour (besan) – 4 tbsp
  • Rice flour – 2 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric – ¼ tsp
  • Chaat masala – ½ tsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Black salt (optional) – ¼ tsp
  • Hing (asafoetida) – a pinch
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Water – 3–4 tbsp
  • Oil – to fry

Method:

  • Take raw peanuts in a bowl. Add turmeric, salt, and chilli powder.
  • Sprinkle few spoons of water just enough to coat the peanuts—don’t make it watery.
  • Add besan and rice flour gradually and mix well so the flour sticks evenly.
  • Heat oil and drop the peanuts loosely (not in clumps).
  • Fry on medium flame until golden and crispy.
  • Crush fried curry leaves and sprinkle chaat masala on top.

Serve with tea or store in an airtight jar for a week.

Jaggery Peanut Chikki (Healthy Sweet Snack)

Ingredients:

  • Roasted, skinless peanuts – 1 cup
  • Jaggery (gud) – ¾ cup
  • Ghee – 1 tsp
  • Cardamom powder – ¼ tsp (optional)

Method:

  • Grease a plate or flat surface with ghee.
  • Heat jaggery on low flame until it melts and becomes bubbly.
  • Check jaggery: drop a little in cold water; if it cracks, it’s ready.
  • Add peanuts and cardamom powder, mix quickly.
  • Spread the mixture immediately on the greased surface.
  • Press lightly with a rolling pin and cut into squares before it hardens.

A perfect healthy crunch snack—high protein and great for kids too.
