The PlastIndia Foundation on Wednesday organised a roadshow for PLASTINDIA 2026 in Ahmedabad, bringing together key stakeholders from Gujarat’s plastics and manufacturing ecosystem to discuss the sector’s growth trajectory and future opportunities. The event also marked the unveiling of the ‘Bharat Next’ roadmap, which targets a national plastics industry valuation of $50 billion by 2026.
Industry Leaders and Policymakers Converge
Held in the run-up to PLASTINDIA 2026, scheduled at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from February 5 to 10, the roadshow was organised in partnership with the Gujarat State Plastic Manufacturers’ Association. Senior industry leaders, manufacturers, processors, and policymakers participated in the discussions. Gujarat’s pivotal role in India’s plastics production, processing, and exports was a central theme, with emphasis on the state’s integrated petrochemical base, strong manufacturing clusters, and export-oriented infrastructure.
Gujarat Government Assures Policy Support
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi attended the event as Chief Guest, while Mamta Verma, Principal Secretary, Industries and Mines Department, was the Guest of Honour. Addressing the gathering, Sanghavi said that PLASTINDIA 2026 marks an important milestone not just in terms of scale and participation, but also in its emphasis on responsibility and sustainability. He noted that India’s plastics industry, valued at nearly ₹4 lakh crore, provides employment to lakhs and continues to witness sustained growth. With Gujarat accounting for over 40% share of the plastics sector, he encouraged industry players to consider integrated industrial parks in the state, assuring full government support.

Plastics Sector Shows Strong Growth Momentum
India’s plastics sector has expanded steadily over the past decade, growing from around $15 billion in 2010 to over $37 billion in 2023. Exports currently stand at approximately $10 billion and are projected to reach $15 billion by 2026. The roadshow positioned PLASTINDIA 2026 as a key platform for global engagement among manufacturers, technology providers, and buyers from India and overseas.
Gujarat’s Manufacturers Look to Global Markets
Ravish Kamath, President of the PlastIndia Foundation, said that as the Indian economy moves towards the $30-trillion milestone by 2047, the plastics sector will be a primary growth driver. He highlighted Gujarat’s advanced petrochemical infrastructure and processing hubs such as Rajkot, Halol, and Vapi as key strengths. Alok Tibrewala, Chairman of the National Executive Council of the PlastIndia Foundation, added that with over 2,000 exhibitors and more than six lakh visitors, PLASTINDIA 2026 offers unmatched scale for Indian manufacturers to transition from domestic leadership to global competitiveness.
Sustainability and Circular Economy in Focus
The roadshow highlighted emerging demand across packaging, consumer products, infrastructure, and recycling. Sustainability and circular economy practices featured prominently, particularly in the context of India’s expanding waste management and recycling markets, where Gujarat accounts for a significant share of national capacity.
PLASTINDIA 2026: A Global Industry Platform
PLASTINDIA 2026 is expected to attract exhibitors and visitors from across the world, covering the entire plastics value chain, including machinery, raw materials, finished products, and processing solutions.
