Under clear December skies and amidst applause filled with pride and promise, the GLS University campus transformed into a celebration of ambition and achievement on Saturday. The 9th Convocation Ceremony was more than a formal academic ritual—it was a defining moment where years of discipline, late nights, and perseverance culminated in a single step forward. As 5,003 graduates crossed the stage, the ceremony marked not just the completion of degrees, but the beginning of journeys that will shape industries, communities, and the future.
GLS University marked a significant milestone with the celebration of its 9th Convocation Ceremony, honouring academic excellence, perseverance, and achievement. The ceremony, held at the GLS Campus near Law Garden, Ellisbridge, saw 5,003 students receive degrees across Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programmes.
Distinguished Dignitaries Grace the Occasion
The convocation was attended by eminent personalities including the Chief Guest Suryakumar Yadav, along with Sudhir Nanavati, President of GLS University, Pankaj Patel, President of Gujarat Law Society, and Chandni Kapadia, Executive Director of GLS University. Their presence added inspiration and prestige to the ceremony.
Inspiring Address by the Chief Guest
Addressing the graduates, Suryakumar Yadav shared insights drawn from his journey of discipline and determination. Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of India’s T20 International cricket team is known for his dynamic, innovative batting and calm leadership on the field on his arrival at GLS as the Chief Guest of the convocation Ceremony said “Success is not just about talent, but about resilience and commitment. You are stepping into a world that demands leadership both on and off the field. Let dedication guide you as you move forward,”.
Emphasis on Adaptability and Lifelong Learning
Sudhir Nanavati encouraged students to remain adaptable in an ever-changing world.
“The real world will test you in ways you may not expect. Continuous learning and confidence will be your greatest strengths. Stay curious, or stay behind. There is no middle ground,” he remarked.
Sharing a message on responsibility and innovation, Pankaj Patel congratulated the graduates and said,
“You leave this institution not just with knowledge, but with responsibility. Your first job is not your career, and your first mistake is not your legacy. Think like a scientist, act like an entrepreneur, and understand that failure is part of the journey to success.”
A Message of Purpose and Preparedness
Expressing pride in the graduating students, Chandni Kapadia addressed them with words of clarity and motivation.
“This moment is important, but it is only the beginning. Timing may not always be in your control, but readiness is. Rejection is not failure; it is life redirecting you. You leave today not just with a degree, but with direction, purpose, and values to guide you forward,” she said.
Honorary Doctorates Recognising Excellence
The university conferred Honorary Doctorates upon Vijay Chauthaiwale for his contributions to foreign affairs and nation-building, and Siddharth Randeria for his outstanding impact on Gujarati theatre and cinema.
Celebrating Academic Achievements
A highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of academic excellence. 40 meritorious students received Gold and Silver Medals for exceptional performance. 37 doctoral scholars were awarded Ph.D. degrees after completing years of rigorous research. Additionally, 40 students were honoured with Best Student Awards across disciplines such as Law, Computer Applications, IT, Commerce, Management, and Design.

The convocation was filled with emotion as graduates, families, and faculty celebrated the culmination of years of hard work and the beginning of new journeys. The ceremony stood as a tribute to resilience, ambition, and the promise of future leadership.
Concluding the event, Sudhir Nanavati shared a powerful message that resonated across the auditorium:
“GLS University has given you wings; now it is up to you to fly and make a difference in the world.”
The 9th Convocation Ceremony of GLS University concluded on a note of optimism and pride, reaffirming the university’s commitment to shaping responsible, innovative, and future-ready leaders prepared to make a meaningful impact on society.
