Two-Day Residential Refresher Course on Road Safety Concludes for Gujarat RTO Officers

Programme held at Rashtriya Raksha University focuses on updated laws, enforcement, and innovation

A two-day residential refresher course on Road Safety and the Motor Vehicles Act for Regional Transport Office (RTO) officers concluded successfully on December 23, 2025, at Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU). The programme began on December 22 and was jointly organised by RRU, the Office of the Commissioner of Transport, Government of Gujarat, and the Commissioner of GUJROSA.

The refresher course aimed to strengthen the knowledge and practical understanding of RTO officers on key aspects of road safety regulations, recent amendments to the Motor Vehicles Act, effective enforcement mechanisms, and best practices to reduce road accidents and improve traffic management across Gujarat. A total of 29 RTO officers from various districts participated in the intensive residential training.

The curriculum featured a mix of expert lectures, interactive sessions, case studies, and experience-sharing discussions, addressing contemporary challenges in road safety and transport administration. During the inaugural session, dignitaries highlighted the crucial role played by RTO officers in maintaining road safety standards and stressed the importance of continuous capacity building to keep pace with evolving legal frameworks and technological advancements.

The Valedictory Session marked the successful conclusion of the programme, with the Commissioner, GUJROSA, attending as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasised the adoption of innovative ideas and modern approaches in road safety, including proactive planning, technology-driven and data-based enforcement, and greater community participation to reduce road accidents and fatalities. He also outlined his vision for the future of road safety, focusing on sustainable mobility, intelligent transport systems, and strict yet citizen-friendly enforcement of traffic laws.

The programme concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the shared responsibility of all stakeholders in creating safer roads. The valedictory session left a lasting impression on the participants, underlining the importance of informed, forward-looking enforcement in improving road safety outcomes across the state.
