In a significant step towards strengthening India’s academic participation in space technology and nurturing future-ready space professionals, Gujarat Technological University (GTU), in collaboration with the Space Applications Centre – ISRO (SAC–ISRO), is organizing a one-day national-level awareness seminar titled “Let’s Build Nanosatellites” under the ambit of the GTU Nano Satellite Technology Centre.
The seminar will be held on 20 January 2026, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the SAC–ISRO campus, Ahmedabad.
This landmark initiative is aimed at inspiring and preparing meritorious students to actively participate in the design, development, and realization of nano-satellites, under the direct mentorship and technical guidance of eminent scientists from SAC–ISRO. The program bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world space missions, enabling students to gain first-hand exposure to satellite systems engineering, payload integration, and mission planning.
A maximum of 40 students will be shortlisted through a rigorous evaluation process supported by SAC–ISRO scientists. The selected students will receive a rare opportunity to work on the development of a real nano-satellite at Gujarat Technological University, with the developed satellite proposed to be launched in a future mission of SAC–ISRO.
The program is open to UG students (from 4th semester onwards) and PG students from GTU-affiliated engineering and technology institutions, including disciplines such as Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Computer Engineering, and Information Technology.
This initiative reflects GTU’s commitment to national priorities such as Atmanirbhar Bharat, self-reliance in space technologies, and the creation of a robust academic–research ecosystem aligned with India’s expanding space ambitions. The seminar is expected to play a pivotal role in developing skilled human resources for the Indian space sector and positioning Gujarat as a key contributor to space education and innovation.
Interested students are encouraged to register at the earliest, as seats are limited.
