Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Gandhinagar, inaugurated the observance of National Road Safety Month 2026 with a road safety awareness programme organised in collaboration with the Gujarat Road Safety Authority. The initiative aimed to promote responsible road behaviour among students, faculty, and staff, in line with the university’s commitment to public safety and nation-building.

The inaugural programme brought together senior officials from road safety and enforcement agencies, highlighting the importance of cooperation between academic institutions and government authorities in addressing road safety challenges. Speakers emphasised that education and awareness are as critical as enforcement in reducing road accidents.

Addressing the gathering, speakers underlined the need for preventive approaches to road safety, noting that behavioural change among road users—particularly youth—is essential for long-term impact. Students were encouraged to follow basic safety practices such as wearing helmets and seatbelts, avoiding mobile phone use while driving, and strictly adhering to traffic rules and signals.

An interactive road safety quiz competition was organised as part of the programme to reinforce knowledge of traffic regulations and safe driving practices. Winners were awarded helmets, symbolising the importance of personal responsibility and the use of protective gear.

The event also featured an experience-sharing session in which students spoke about real-life road safety challenges, adding practical insights to the discussion. The programme concluded with a collective Road Safety Pledge, reaffirming the university community’s commitment to responsible road behaviour and to spreading awareness beyond the campus.

By launching National Road Safety Month with this initiative, Rashtriya Raksha University set the tone for a month-long campaign focused on sustained advocacy, education, and behavioural change in road safety.
