Gujarat’s prolific young paddler Vivaan Dave continued his fine run on the national stage, clinching the gold medal in the Under-15 mixed doubles event at the WTT Youth Contender Vadodara 2026. Teaming up with Naisha Rewaskar, Vivaan delivered a dominant performance at the tournament held from January 2 to 5 at the Sama Indoor Sports Complex.

Presented by the Sports Authority of Gujarat, the event was organised by the Table Tennis Association of Baroda under the aegis of the Gujarat State Table Tennis Association and the Table Tennis Federation of India.

In the final, the fourth-seeded pairing of Vivaan (Surat) and Naisha outclassed Reyansh Jalan and Tanishka Kalbhairav in straight games, winning 3-0 (11-8, 11-8, 11-3) to finish atop the podium.

The duo began their campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win over Rishaan Chattopadhyay and Sreejani Chakraborty in the round of 16, followed by a 3-1 quarterfinal victory against Satyanarayanan K and Aarya Redkar. Their semifinal encounter turned into a gripping contest, where they edged past top seeds Aditya Das and Anolika Chakraborty 3-2 (13-11, 5-11, 11-7, 5-11, 23-21) in a thrilling five-game battle.

Meanwhile, Gujarat’s nine-year-old sensation Rehansh Singhvi also made headlines by securing the bronze medal in the Under-11 boys’ category. The youngster from Kachchh topped Group 1 with emphatic straight-game wins over Trishanjit Ghosh, Ishaan Colasa, and Sidharth Vijaykumar to book a direct berth in the semifinals. In the last-four clash, Rehansh fought hard before going down 0-3 to Sharvil Karambelkar.

Reacting to the strong showing by the home players, Pramod Chaudhary, President of the Gujarat State Table Tennis Association, lauded the performances of Gujarat’s junior paddlers. “The impressive performances by Vivaan Dave, Rehansh Singhvi, Dev Bhatt and Dhimahi Kabrawala underline the growing depth of young talent in Gujarat. With four paddlers shining on home turf, it is indeed a proud moment for the state,” he said.
