The Institute of Journalism & Communication (IJC) successfully celebrated its first-ever Media Fest, ‘MedWhizz’, at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Global University (SVGU) campus on January 6, 2026. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 120 students from schools, colleges, and universities across Ahmedabad.
Vibrant Inauguration and Energetic Participation
Held in the presence of Dr. Subhash Brahmbhatt, Provost of SVGU, the marquee event came alive with students brimming with enthusiasm and creativity. Participants actively competed in Media Quiz, Treasure Hunt, Spot Photography, and Open Mic, transforming the campus into a hub of energy and vibrancy.
Institutions from Across Ahmedabad Participate
Students representing JG University, LJ University, SVG University, Shanti Business School, St. Xavier’s College, HK Arts College, Sahajanand College, Shreyas Foundation, HB Kapadia, Shri Sanjay Gandhi Vidhyapeeth Motera, and Geneva Liberal School marked their presence and delivered commendable performances across all segments.
Spotlight on Performances and Celebrity Presence
The Open Mic segment saw captivating performances in the presence of Ahmedabad’s renowned radio personality RJ Hardik. Participants also demonstrated sharp intellect during the Media Quiz and teamwork and problem-solving skills in the Treasure Hunt, successfully decoding clues to emerge victorious.
The Spot Photography Contest emerged as a highlight of the fest, with students capturing the SVGU campus in diverse hues and colours. Their photographs, paired with creative captions, brought the campus to life and posed a tough challenge for the expert judges—Aditi Anjaria, Advertising & Commercial Photographer, and Sam Panthaky, former AFP Photo-journalist—who found it difficult to shortlist winners.
Celebrating Creativity and Holistic Education
All winners and participants walked away smiling, proudly holding their trophies and certificates, bringing laurels to their respective institutions. The event not only marked a vibrant beginning of Media Fest culture at SVGU but also reinforced the message that creativity knows no boundaries. The spirited participation and heartfelt presentations were widely appreciated by judges, guests, dignitaries, and the audience alike.
SVGU continues to uphold its commitment to holistic education, fostering cultural awareness, national unity, and creative expression alongside academic excellence.
Awards and Recognition
Trophies and certificates were presented to all winners by the respective judges and the Provost.
