Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), India’s largest energy company, has partnered with MICA, Ahmedabad, to launch Brand Masters, a five-day Management Development Programme aimed at enhancing leadership communication and strategic brand thinking among IOCL managers.
Hosted at MICA’s Ahmedabad campus, the programme is designed to address emerging communication and reputation challenges faced by energy organisations in a rapidly evolving, digitally driven and stakeholder-focused environment. The first batch of participants commenced the programme this week, with a second batch scheduled in the coming weeks.
The Brand Masters curriculum focuses on advanced areas such as corporate communication, crisis management, digital storytelling, purpose-led branding, ESG narratives, and media relations. It also incorporates sector-specific themes including regulatory sensitivity, digital transformation, and reputation management in high-impact environments.
Speaking about the initiative, Professor Dr Falguni Vasavada Oza, Lead, Learning Management Development Programs (LDMP), MICA, said that branding today goes beyond visibility and requires emotional resonance aligned with organisational objectives. She added that the programme enables IOCL leaders to design communication initiatives that are creative, measurable, and grounded in the realities of the energy sector.
A key emphasis of the programme is internal communication and employee engagement, recognising employees as authentic brand ambassadors. Sessions on internal storytelling, safety communication, and organisational alignment aim to ensure consistent reflection of IOCL’s values and purpose across the organisation.
Professor Dr Ruchi Tewari, Chief Marketing Officer, MICA, highlighted that effective communication works from the inside out, helping managers connect teams with IOCL’s broader mission through purposeful storytelling.
The programme includes experiential learning through hands-on workshops on campaign planning, marketing brief development, public speaking, and video storytelling. It concludes with sessions led by IOCL’s in-house experts to align participants with the organisation’s corporate communication policies.
As India’s energy landscape continues to evolve, the Brand Masters programme underscores IOCL’s commitment to leadership excellence and responsible communication, equipping its managers to communicate the nation’s energy story with clarity, credibility, and purpose.
