In a landmark initiative aimed at protecting the health and well-being of truck and commercial vehicle drivers, M D Motors has inaugurated India’s first “Highway Hero+ Smart Clinic” at its ATS facility in Bakrol, Ahmedabad. The clinic has been established to provide regular physical check-ups and quality healthcare services to drivers who tirelessly travel across highways and play a crucial role in the nation’s growth.
The project is being led by the All India Transporters Welfare Association (AITWA) and supported financially by BLR Logistics Ltd. under its CSR initiative. M D Motors ATS, Bakrol, has provided the necessary infrastructure, including space and essential facilities, to ensure the smooth functioning of the clinic. Key representatives sharing details about the initiative included Kailash Bhati, Managing Director of M D Motors; Jograj Rathore, CEO of M D Motors; and Ishwardan Gadhvi, HR & Admin, M D Motors, along with representatives from AITWA and BLR Logistics Ltd.
Speaking on the occasion, Kailash Bhati reaffirmed the company’s long-standing commitment to serving the transport community and prioritizing the health and safety of drivers. Shri Jograj Rathore emphasized that the objective of the ‘Highway Hero+ Smart Clinic’ extends beyond medical treatment — it seeks to instill a sense of dignity, care, and security among drivers, ensuring they remain healthy and return home safely to their families.
The clinic offers free and comprehensive medical services that would typically cost between Rs. 4,500 and Rs. 5,000.
Muhammed Nafees, Incharge of the Medical Care Unit at M D Motors, highlighted the comprehensive nature of the services offered at the facility. He stated, “Drivers can avail themselves of routine health check-ups, teleconsultation with senior doctors, and immediate medical assistance without any charges. The facility is equipped with modern diagnostic tools to conduct essential tests such as ECG, hemoglobin, blood sugar, blood pressure, body temperature, BMI, and SPO2. In addition, specialized examinations including audiometry (hearing test), pulmonary function tests (lung function), eye screening, and color blindness tests are available, keeping in mind the professional requirements of drivers.”
With informed consent, HIV and AIDS testing facilities are also provided to help drivers stay fully aware of their health status.
This collaborative effort highlights the combined vision of AITWA, BLR Logistics Ltd., and M D Motors. While AITWA is spearheading and managing the healthcare services, BLR Logistics Ltd. has extended CSR funding support, and M D Motors ATS has contributed the infrastructure necessary for the clinic’s operations.
Representatives from the participating organizations expressed confidence that the ‘Highway Hero+’ initiative will act as a protective health shield for drivers on the road. They noted that the corporate sector’s involvement demonstrates a growing commitment toward the welfare of the transport community. Transporters, fleet operators, and vehicle owners have been encouraged to send their drivers to the clinic to benefit from this important health initiative.
