The Department of Onco Sciences at Marengo CIMS Hospital successfully hosted TACOS 2026 (Thoracic and Colorectal Oncology Summit) on 21st–22nd February 2026, establishing a focused national platform dedicated exclusively to thoracic and colorectal cancers. Organized for the first time, the summit brought together leading oncologists, surgeons, academicians, and healthcare professionals from across India for an intensive scientific exchange in two of the fastest-evolving domains of cancer care.
Envisioned as a specialized academic initiative, TACOS 2026 aimed to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and practical clinical application. “TACOS 2026 was conceptualized as a dedicated academic platform to advance thoracic and colorectal oncology through meaningful dialogue and multidisciplinary collaboration,” said Dr. Abhishek Jain, Conference Director. “Our objective was to translate the latest evidence and innovation into actionable clinical strategies that ultimately improve patient outcomes.”
The summit witnessed strong national representation across surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, pulmonology, and gastro-oncology, reflecting the growing importance of a team-based approach in managing complex cancers. The comprehensive scientific program featured evidence-based discussions on evolving guidelines, landmark clinical trials, and emerging standards of care.
Highlighting the broader vision of the summit, Dr. Nishant Sanghavi, Conference Director, stated, “TACOS 2026 marks a significant step toward uniting national and international expertise in colorectal oncology. This platform has enabled meaningful scientific exchange and collaborative learning, contributing to strengthening cancer care standards across India.”
Engaging panel discussions and structured debates explored contemporary controversies such as surgery versus SBRT, minimally invasive approaches, and multimodality treatment strategies. These sessions encouraged dynamic participation and provided clarity on decision-making in complex clinical scenarios.
A major highlight of the event was the live case-based discussions, where real-world patient cases were examined with expert insights and practical management strategies. The conference also actively engaged young oncologists through quiz competitions, abstract presentations, and interactive learning sessions — nurturing future leaders in oncology.
Emphasizing the spirit of collaboration, Dr. Manish Gandhi, Surgical Gastroenterologist, remarked, “TACOS 2026 is more than a conference — it is a convergence of vision, expertise, and innovation. By bringing leaders from multiple disciplines onto one platform, we are transforming advanced science into real-world impact and redefining the future of thoracic and colorectal cancer care.”
The summit reinforced the importance of precision oncology and multidisciplinary tumor boards in improving outcomes for lung, esophageal, and colorectal cancers. By fostering open dialogue between clinicians and academicians, TACOS 2026 successfully created an ecosystem of knowledge sharing and professional networking.
Reiterating institutional commitment, Mayur Dave, Facility Director, MCIMS, said, “As a healthcare provider across multiple states and overseas locations, we remain committed to bringing advanced treatment protocols and super-specialty excellence through collaborative clinical platforms. We believe continuous knowledge exchange among clinicians is essential to delivering better care. We are grateful to our media partners for amplifying this message of awareness.”
Marengo CIMS Hospital, part of the Marengo Asia Hospitals chain, has emerged as a preferred destination for organ transplants in Western India. The 480-bedded multi-super specialty ‘Green Hospital,’ committed to ESG guidelines, has conducted 58 heart transplants to date, ranking second nationally in achieving this milestone. Recognized for performing Gujarat’s first heart and lung transplants and for conducting the highest number of angioplasties in the state, the hospital is thrice accredited by JCI (USA), NABH, and NABL — underscoring its commitment to global standards of healthcare quality and patient safety.
Through initiatives such as TACOS 2026 and the efforts of the Marengo Asia Foundation in promoting early detection and treatment for cancer-affected patients, the institution continues to strengthen its mission of advancing clinical excellence and saving more lives through timely, evidence-based care.
