A Celebration of Chrome and Cinema in Ahmedabad

On certain evenings, history does not sit quietly behind glass. It gleams under soft lights, reflects on polished chrome, and flickers across a cinema screen. That is precisely the atmosphere Ahmedabad is set to experience as Dastan Autoworld – The Pranlal Bhogilal Collection celebrates its 25th anniversary with India’s first Car & Cinema Festival. Scheduled from February 27 to March 1 at its Kathwada premises, the festival promises a rare sensory blend where vintage engineering meets cinematic storytelling in an immersive cultural setting.

Vision Behind the Festival

The initiative has been conceptualised by the custodians of the collection, Chamundeshwari Bhogilal Chinai and Brijesh Chinai, who continue to nurture the legacy built by legendary automobile enthusiast Pranlal Bhogilal. Their idea reflects a deeper philosophy: automobiles are not merely mechanical creations but symbols of aspiration, artistry, and emotion, elements that cinema has celebrated for generations.

Special Focus: The Visionary Behind the Legacy

At the heart of this remarkable institution lies the passion and foresight of Pranlal Bhogilal, widely regarded as one of India’s greatest automobile collectors. His dedication extended far beyond acquiring rare vehicles. He preserved stories, craftsmanship, and history at a time when vintage automobiles were often overlooked. Through relentless commitment, he built a collection that today stands among the most respected private automotive museums globally. His vision continues to inspire collectors, historians, and enthusiasts, demonstrating how heritage preserved with devotion can transcend time.

Cinema Meets Engineering Heritage

One of the key attractions will be curated film screenings showcasing how automobiles have shaped narratives across global cinema. Visitors will experience iconic films in an open-air environment, surrounded by historic vehicles that represent the very spirit captured on screen. The festival aims to attract automobile enthusiasts, film lovers, collectors, corporate guests, and families, creating a refined yet accessible cultural experience.

A Walk Through Automotive Royalty

Guests will also have the opportunity to explore the museum’s celebrated collection of more than 100 rare vintage automobiles. The lineup includes globally renowned marques such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Lagonda, Maybach, Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz, Auburn, and several other classics. Many vehicles carry royal provenance, once owned by Indian maharajas, turning each display into a living chapter of automotive history.

More Than an Anniversary

Founded on passion and preservation, the museum has evolved into one of the world’s significant private automotive collections. The anniversary festival reflects its ongoing commitment to presenting heritage in ways that feel contemporary and engaging, while also strengthening Ahmedabad’s position as a destination for cultural innovation.

As the projector lights fade and engines fall silent at the end of each evening, what will remain is something far more enduring than spectacle: a reminder that machines can carry memories, and stories, like journeys, are meant to move us forward.
