Where Memories Floated Back to Campus and Time Stood Still !

In an atmosphere filled with nostalgia, gratitude, and quiet joy, Navgujarat Group of Colleges welcomed back not just its alumni, but entire chapters of its living history. The Ashram Road campus seemed to breathe with memories as former students and teachers reunited, some after more than 25 years, turning an ordinary day into an emotional homecoming.

What made this gathering truly special was its rare and heartfelt approach. Unlike many alumni meets that focus solely on former students, this celebration embraced the very pillars who shaped them — the principals and professors. Invited with deep respect, a large number of former educators were present, transforming the event into something far more meaningful: a reunion not just of classmates, but of mentors and their students, of guiding voices and grateful journeys. The atmosphere carried the warmth of old friendships rediscovered and the quiet emotion of teachers seeing their students flourish across decades.

Marking a significant milestone, alumni from batches spanning 1964 to 1996 came together on the same premises for the first time, revisiting corridors that once echoed with their ambitions.

The day began with former faculty members reconnecting among themselves, sharing stories and reliving moments tied to classrooms and campus life. As alumni gathered, the formal ceremony commenced with a prayer. Nitinbhai Shah, Principal of Prin. M C Shah Commerce College, welcomed everyone and reflected on the enduring bond between the institution and its extended family.

A Legacy Revisited, A Future Reimagined

Mukeshbhai Shah, Trustee, reflected on the remarkable journey of the Navgujarat Group of Colleges, tracing its evolution through the years with a sense of pride and continuity. Snehal Shah, Managing Trustee, offered a glimpse into the institution’s future, highlighting its new infrastructure, modern facilities, and an ambitious vision that blends tradition with innovation.

The gathering was enriched by the presence of distinguished former professors. Kumarpal Desai, celebrated author and critic, and Trilokbhai Parikh, owner of Karnavati Club and Gulmohor Greens, spoke eloquently about the institution’s enduring values, its transformative journey, and the profound role education plays in shaping lives.

Alumni, now holding influential positions across companies, government bodies, and institutions, added a vibrant layer to the event by sharing their personal journeys and experiences. Among the notable speakers were Narharibhai Amin, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha); Nikhilbhai Shah, Vice President of Waghbakri Group; Hitendrabhai Rathod, TDS Income Tax Commissioner; Harishbhai Shah, Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax; Amritbhai Patel, Retired Joint Secretary at the Secretariat; Vinaybhai Dave, writer, actor, director, anchor, and journalist; Ashwinbhai Patel, Chairman of Naroda Coop Bank and Managing Director of Nirman Textile Mills; Hareshbhai Pandit, Senior Zonal Vice President at Axis Life Insurance; Shaileshbhai Shah, advocate and notary; Rajkumar Gupta, former MLA and Minister; and Dr. Jagdishbhai Bhavsar, renowned Economics Professor and former Vice Chancellor.

The institution stands as a quiet architect of countless careers, its influence woven into the lives of those it nurtured. Much of this legacy is rooted in the vision and leadership of M. C. Shah, whose commitment created opportunities for generations of students. His philosophy extended beyond academics, instilling humility, service, and a sense of social responsibility.

Gratitude was also expressed to Snehal Shah and Mukesh Shah for bringing the community together, rekindling shared memories and strengthening bonds. As echoed by Narharibhai Amin, alumni remain deeply connected to the institution and stand ready to contribute to its continued growth, ensuring that its legacy not only endures but flourishes.

As the event drew to a close, it left behind more than memories — it rekindled a sense of belonging. The vote of thanks by Nitinbhai Shah marked the formal conclusion, but the emotions lingered long after. For those present, this was not just an alumni meet; it was a rare moment where time softened, roles dissolved, and teachers and students met once again — not separated by years, but united by gratitude, respect, and a legacy that continues to shine.
