In a significant boost to India–Canada academic collaboration, Cape Breton University (CBU) has identified Gujarat as a pivotal partner in its global education strategy, signalling a deeper push toward building structured talent pipelines and research-driven academic partnerships.

As part of its multi-city India tour, CBU engaged with leading institutions including Parul University, Navrachna University, and LJ University to explore formal partnerships and dual-pathway programmes.
These collaborations aim to:
- Enable seamless student mobility between India and Canada
- Develop co-designed curricula aligned with global standards
- Strengthen research collaboration in emerging sectors
- Create career-oriented programs tied to industry needs
CBU’s model emphasises experiential learning—through co-ops, internships, and community engagement—which aligns closely with Gujarat’s industry-integrated education approach.

Led by David C. Dingwall, the delegation engaged with top institutions and held strategic discussions with Harsh Sanghavi, the Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat to support workforce needs in sectors like GIFT City and Dholera SIR, reinforcing Gujarat’s role as a growing hub for global education and future-ready skills development.
The meeting, attended by representatives of the National Education Forum and CBU, explored a joint framework to:
- Map future workforce requirements through research
- Design industry-aligned academic pathways
- Build local training ecosystems for global careers
The Gujarat government extended full support and encouraged collaboration in major development zones such as:
- GIFT City
- Dholera SIR
- Semiconductor manufacturing hubs
- Renewable energy corridors
- Automobile clusters
“Gujarat is committed to creating a globally competitive workforce rooted in local capability. Partnerships like these will help bridge academic learning with real industry needs,” officials noted during the discussions.

He highlighted CBU’s commitment to building pathways that integrate student mobility, research collaboration, and workforce-ready skills. Gujarat stands at the intersection of academic excellence and industrial dynamism. Our vision is to move beyond traditional student mobility and build integrated ecosystems involving joint research, innovation, and workforce development, Dingwall reiterated.

He noted that collaborations with institutions like CBU will help create industry-relevant programs and enhance career-ready skills among learners.
With Gujarat rapidly emerging as an education and industrial powerhouse, partnerships like this signal a shift toward integrated global education ecosystems—where learning, research, and employment pathways are closely aligned.
