ArMee Infotech has supported the launch of two community-owned solar cold storage facilities in Bhavnagar and Rajula, empowering women-led producer companies, reducing post-harvest losses and promoting sustainable rural livelihoods through renewable energy-based enterprises.
Rajkot, June 5: In a significant step towards promoting sustainable rural development and women entrepreneurship, ArMee Infotech Limited has facilitated the establishment of two community-owned solar cold storage facilities in Gujarat. The initiative aims to reduce post-harvest losses, improve market access for farmers, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for women-led producer groups.
The project has been implemented under the Soil to Sustainability – Aapdi Maati, Aapdu Bhavishya programme by WAY Everything Connects Foundation (WAY Foundation), in collaboration with the Centre for Environment and Social Concerns (CESC) and Farmfluence AgriTech. Two solar-powered cold storage units, each with a capacity of 5 metric tonnes, have been inaugurated in Bhavnagar and Rajula.
The facilities have been handed over to women-led producer companies—Utthan Mahila Producer Company Limited in Bhavnagar and Utkantha Mahila Producer Company Limited in Rajula. The initiative seeks to establish community-owned enterprises that combine renewable energy with local agricultural value chains, helping women farmers improve income opportunities and strengthen economic resilience.
Speaking on the occasion, ArMee Infotech Chairman and Managing Director Ridhish Patel said that the facilities are designed not only as storage infrastructure but also as women-led rural enterprises capable of generating income, creating employment and reducing agricultural wastage. He added that the project aims to create a scalable model that integrates renewable energy, entrepreneurship and community ownership.
To ensure long-term sustainability, the partner organisations will also conduct a Business Model Development Workshop in Ahmedabad for participating producer companies, focusing on governance, enterprise management, market linkages and revenue generation strategies.
WAY Foundation Co-Founder Wricha Johari said the initiative is designed to build strong local enterprises and equip women-led producer companies with the skills needed to operate successful and sustainable businesses.
The collaborative effort highlights the potential of partnerships between corporates, development organisations and community institutions in advancing climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy adoption and inclusive rural growth across Gujarat.
