GSFC University Celebrates World Environment Day with Green Initiatives

GSFC University Reinforces Commitment to Environmental Conservation

GSFC University celebrated World Environment Day 2026 with a series of activities aimed at fostering environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable practices among students, faculty and staff.

Organised by the University’s Environment Club under the theme “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”, the celebrations featured a tree plantation drive at the campus Arboretum as part of the nationwide campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.” Senior management members, faculty, non-teaching staff and students participated in planting native saplings, reaffirming their commitment to environmental conservation and a greener future.

As part of the celebrations, the Environment Club also launched an Eco-Brick Making Competition, encouraging students to convert non-recyclable plastic waste into eco-bricks and promote responsible waste management. Additionally, a Short Film Making Competition on environmental themes was announced, offering students a creative platform to highlight issues such as climate change, biodiversity conservation and pollution.

The initiatives reflected GSFC University’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, environmental responsibility and community engagement while inspiring the younger generation to contribute towards a healthier planet.
