- New Initiative Promotes Bicycles, Employment and Self-Reliance in Rural Gujarat
Ahmedabad: In a significant step towards promoting education, women empowerment, and rural self-reliance, the ambitious ‘Navchakra Yojana’ was formally launched at a grand ceremony in Ahmedabad. The initiative was spearheaded by Singarva Gram Panchayat, under the leadership of Sarpanch Ankitsinh Chauhan, with active support from Sitaben Chauhan.
Launched under the inspiring themes “Speed to Dreams, Direction to Future” and “One Bicycle, Millions of Dreams,” the scheme aims to transform lives by providing bicycles to government school students while creating employment opportunities for women in rural areas.
Addressing the gathering, Ankitsinh Chauhan said the initiative is designed to make education more accessible for students, particularly those travelling long distances to school, while simultaneously empowering women through livelihood opportunities linked to the programme.
The vision of Navchakra Yojana extends beyond bicycle distribution. It seeks to strengthen the foundations of social development by promoting the ideals of “Education for Every Child” and “Respect for Every Daughter.” The scheme aims to instill confidence among young girls, support school attendance, and open pathways for a brighter future.
The programme is structured around key pillars, including education, women empowerment, youth employment, and local manufacturing. By easing transportation challenges, the initiative is expected to improve access to quality education for government school students. At the same time, it will generate employment opportunities for village women, encouraging financial independence and community development.
A major component of the scheme also focuses on creating jobs for youth through bicycle manufacturing, skill development, and vocational training. Aligned with the national vision of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat,’ the initiative aims to strengthen local production capabilities and contribute to India’s self-reliance goals.
The launch concluded with a strong message that a simple bicycle can become a powerful catalyst for change, helping young minds pursue their aspirations and paving the way for a more empowered and prosperous society.
“A bicycle gifted today can become the vehicle of success for tomorrow,” was the sentiment echoed throughout the event.
