Bilkul BazaarThe Federation of Surat Trade & Textile Associations (FOSTTA) has announced the complete closure of all textile markets in Surat on Wednesday, July 8, following incessant heavy rainfall and severe waterlogging across the city. The decision was taken in the interest of traders’ safety and to prevent damage to goods and property as continuous rains have disrupted normal life in several parts of Surat. The announcement was made by FOSTTA’s leadership, including Chairman Kailash Hakim, President Hansraj Jain, and General Secretary Dinesh Katariya, after reviewing the prevailing weather conditions.
Special Guidelines for Traders
Although the textile markets will remain closed for business, FOSTTA has issued certain guidelines for traders facing emergency situations.Shop owners operating from basements or lower ground floors, those who need to shift stock to safer locations, or those requiring urgent access to their premises for essential documentation must obtain prior permission from their respective market associations before opening their shops.FOSTTA has also directed all affiliated market associations to extend full cooperation to traders dealing with emergencies caused by the heavy rains and waterlogging.
Reopening Decision Later
The federation stated that any decision regarding the reopening of the textile markets will be communicated after reviewing the weather situation once conditions improve. With Surat witnessing persistent rainfall and widespread flooding in several areas, traders have been advised to prioritize safety and follow the guidelines issued by FOSTTA until normal conditions are restored.
