Narayan Seva Sansthan Conducts Mega Artificial Limb Camp in Ahmedabad, Measures 327 Beneficiaries

Narayan Seva Sansthan (NSS), in association with its CSR partner Ingersoll Rand, organised a Mega Free Disability Screening, Surgical Assessment and 3D-Printed Narayan Modular Artificial Limb Measurement Camp at Gujarat University, Navrangpura, on Sunday.

The camp attracted over 450 persons with disabilities, with specialist doctors and Prosthetics & Orthotics (P&O) experts conducting detailed medical assessments. Measurements were taken for 327 beneficiaries who will receive customised Narayan Modular Artificial Limbs, manufactured using advanced Japanese and German technology.

The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by social workers Ramila Ben T. Patel, Jogendra Pratap Singh, Vallabhbhai Dhanani, Chandrakantbhai Patel, Kiritbhai Shah, Pushpa Ben Rathore, Ashutoshbhai Pandit, Vivek Patel, Sheetal Patel, and Jagdish Chechani, along with other dignitaries. The guests interacted with beneficiaries and reviewed the medical assessment and rehabilitation process.

Addressing the gathering, Ramila Ben T. Patel described service to persons with disabilities as the highest form of humanity. She praised Narayan Seva Sansthan for its long-standing commitment to the rehabilitation and empowerment of differently abled individuals and called for continued public support for such humanitarian initiatives.

Prashant Agarwal, President of Narayan Seva Sansthan, said that over 450 people had registered for the camp. Besides taking measurements for 327 artificial limbs, the medical team also measured beneficiaries for calipers, while 33 individuals were identified for free corrective surgeries.

Mahesh Agarwal, President of the Mumbai Chapter of Narayan Seva Sansthan, encouraged beneficiaries to remain confident, overcome challenges, and work towards self-reliance. He reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to helping persons with disabilities achieve physical, social, economic and intellectual independence.

During the event, Bhagwan Prasad Gaur (Head of Public Relations), Hari Prasad Laddha (Camp In-charge), Achal Singh Bhati (Surat In-charge), and Kailash Chaudhary (Ahmedabad In-charge) welcomed the guests. They also highlighted the Sansthan’s various social welfare initiatives, including free corrective surgeries, artificial limb distribution, meals for more than 5,000 needy people daily, free education through Narayan Children’s Academy, vocational training programmes, and mass marriage ceremonies.

Established in 1985, Narayan Seva Sansthan has spent over four decades serving persons with disabilities. Its founder, Padma Shri Kailash Manav, was honoured with the Padma Shri for his contribution to social service, while Prashant Agarwal received the President’s Award in 2023 for his work towards disability empowerment.

To date, the organisation has provided over 40,200 free artificial limbs in India and abroad and has delivered free surgeries and medical services to more than 454,081 persons with disabilities, continuing its mission of restoring mobility, dignity and hope to thousands of lives.
