The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) will host the third edition of the IIMA Healthcare Summit 2026 on August 22, bringing together government, industry and academia to discuss the role of artificial intelligence in transforming healthcare.
The summit, themed “Advancing AI in Healthcare,” will feature Anupriya Patel, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilisers, Government of India, as the Chief Guest and keynote speaker.
The summit is aligned with the Government of India’s IndiaAI Mission and the vision of a healthy and developed India by 2047. It is being convened by the IIMA Healthcare Alumni Special Interest Group, comprising more than 400 alumni in leadership positions across the healthcare sector, along with IIMA’s Centre for Management of Health Services (CMHS).
Sessions at the summit will cover a wide range of issues related to AI and healthcare, including policy priorities for India@2047, industry, research and innovation, the changing healthcare value chain, AI-ready leadership and AI-enabled startups addressing major healthcare challenges.
The summit will also see the launch of two initiatives focused on documenting important chapters in India’s healthcare and pharmaceutical history. India Pharma Archives will seek to preserve and chronicle the evolution of the Indian pharmaceutical industry through a digital archival record. A publication documenting India’s COVID-19 vaccine development will also be launched, covering the country’s scientific, pharmaceutical and institutional response to the global health crisis.
IIMA has been expanding its engagement in healthcare through faculty research, alumni initiatives, executive education and institutional programmes. Its Centre for Management of Health Services has contributed to healthcare research and public policy, while the institute has also strengthened its focus on the intersection of healthcare and artificial intelligence.
A CMHS conference on responsible AI innovation in healthcare, held in October 2025, was designated by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology as an official pre-summit event of the AI Impact Summit 2026. The establishment of the Krishnamurthy Tandon School of Artificial Intelligence at IIMA has further strengthened the institute’s institutional platform for AI-related initiatives.
According to IIMA, the Healthcare Summit has evolved into a national platform for evidence-based discussions, policy deliberations and partnerships in healthcare. The third edition will focus on shaping the future of Indian healthcare, with AI emerging as a key driver of transformation.
More details about the summit are available on the IIMA conference website.
