 National News Highlights

1. Heavy rain brings Delhi-NCR to a standstill
Heavy rainfall lashed Delhi on Friday, prompting the IMD to issue a red alert for intense rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. Waterlogging also affected the airport, with nine flights diverted temporarily.

2. Flood situation worsens in Bihar
Rising Ganga waters have inundated parts of Patna, including several ghats, roads and homes. Authorities continue relief and rescue operations as the flood situation remains serious.

3. UP floods affect 26 districts
More than 17,500 people have been evacuated from flood-affected areas across Uttar Pradesh. The state government said around 3.53 lakh people have been affected and extensive relief arrangements are in place.

4. Mizoram rail services hit by landslide
Heavy rain triggered soil erosion near railway tracks between Assam’s Jamira and Mizoram’s Bairabi, affecting about 70 metres of track. Several passenger services have been cancelled or curtailed.

5. India launches first geosynchronous imaging satellite
ISRO successfully placed EOS-05, India’s first geosynchronous imaging satellite, into orbit aboard the GSLV. The satellite is designed to provide high-resolution Earth observation from geosynchronous orbit.

6. CBI raids 89 locations in digital-arrest scam cases
The CBI conducted searches at 89 locations across 20 states in three digital-arrest fraud cases involving more than ₹42 crore. Three people were arrested and digital devices and financial records seized.

7. Dalai Lama returns to Dharamshala
The Dalai Lama returned to Dharamshala after spending more than two months in Ladakh, where he attended religious and public programmes including celebrations of his 91st birthday.

8. 15 injured after double-decker bus overturns in UP
A double-decker bus carrying about 125 passengers overturned on the Ganga Expressway in Budaun district after its front tyre burst. At least 15 people were injured.

9. Hospital fire in Maharashtra; newborns among those evacuated
A fire broke out at a hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Hospital staff rushed to evacuate patients, including newborn babies, as the blaze spread through the facility.

10. Needle found inside one-year-old Kerala girl
A needle was discovered near the ribs of a one-year-old girl who had previously been treated at Kottayam Medical College Hospital. Her family has alleged medical negligence and an inquiry has been ordered.

International News Highlights

1. Russia strikes Ukraine’s security service headquarters in Kyiv
A Russian drone attack targeted the headquarters of Ukraine’s SBU security service in central Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the strike and warned of a response.

2. Two workers rescued alive from Nepal tunnel disaster
In a remarkable rescue, two workers were pulled alive from a hydropower tunnel nine days after a devastating glacier collapse and debris flow in Nepal. More than 1,200 people have died and thousands remain missing.

3. Iran fires missiles and drones toward Kuwait
Iran launched missiles and drones toward Kuwait as part of its retaliation for recent US strikes. Kuwait said its air-defence systems intercepted the attacks.

4. Israel releases Lebanese prisoner in Red Cross handover
Israel released Lebanese national Malek Ghazi and handed him over to the Lebanese army through the International Committee of the Red Cross. Israel said four more Lebanese civilians were expected to be released.

5. EU commissioner cancels Serbia visit over Mladic funeral controversy
European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos cancelled a planned visit to Serbia after a Serbian government aircraft transported the body of former Bosnian Serb commander Ratko Mladic, who died last week. Mladic had been convicted of war crimes.
