335 Divyangjans receive 291 modular artificial limbs, 87 calipers and other assistive devices in Ahmedabad

A total of 335 Divyangjans received free artificial limbs, calipers and other assistive devices at an artificial limb fitment camp organized by Narayan Seva Sansthan, Udaipur, in association with its CSR partner Ingersoll Rand India Limited, at Atal Kalam Campus Lane, Gujarat University, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad, on Sunday.
The camp provided 291 Narayan Modular Artificial Limbs to 271 beneficiaries, while 87 calipers and other assistive devices were provided to 64 Divyangjans. The initiative brought renewed mobility and independence to beneficiaries and their families, many of whom witnessed their loved ones walk independently after a long wait.
Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, who attended the programme as chief guest, described the service initiatives of Narayan Seva Sansthan as “extraordinary and inspiring for humanity.” He said the camp represented a meaningful convergence of technology and compassion.
The Governor said that providing artificial limbs and calipers to 335 Divyangjans was not merely a numerical achievement, but the beginning of a new journey of hope, dignity and self-reliance for 335 families. He appreciated the Sansthan for combining Japanese and German technology with a strong spirit of service, observing that the ultimate purpose of modern technology should be to improve human lives.
Acharya Devvrat also praised the service vision of Padma Shri Kailash ‘Manav’, founder of Narayan Seva Sansthan, and the leadership of its President Prashant Agarwal. He interacted with beneficiaries, encouraged them and spoke with doctors about the fitting and use of the artificial limbs. He also assured the beneficiaries of all possible support from the Raj Bhavan.
The programme was presided over by Sunil Khanduja, Chairman and Managing Director, Ingersoll Rand India Limited. Former Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendra Singh Chudasama, who attended as a distinguished guest, also appreciated the humanitarian work of the Sansthan.
Welcoming the guests, Vandana Agarwal, Director, Narayan Seva Sansthan, said the organization’s objective was not simply to provide artificial limbs but to help Divyangjans regain their confidence and become self-reliant. She said the technologically advanced limbs were enabling beneficiaries to regain mobility while also strengthening their sense of independence.
The camp began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a welcome ceremony conducted in the Mewari tradition. A 40-member team of specialists from Narayan Seva Sansthan carried out the fitment process and trained beneficiaries in maintaining balance, walking techniques, using artificial limbs and their proper care.
According to Vandana Agarwal, more than 450 Divyangjans had registered at the selection and measurement camp held in Ahmedabad on July 26. Following the assessment and selection process, 335 beneficiaries received artificial limbs, calipers and other assistive devices at Sunday’s camp.
The emotional highlight of the programme was a parade by the beneficiaries following the fitment. The sight of beneficiaries walking independently after receiving their artificial limbs moved several family members and volunteers.
Several social workers, citizens and volunteers were also present at the programme, including Satyabhushan Jain, Patron, Narayan Seva Sansthan; Madan Lal Gupta; Shailesh Chandra Parmar; Natwar Bhai Gajjar; Satish Bhai Bhaviskar; Vallabh Bhai Dhanani; and Pradeep Bhai J. Bachani. The programme was conducted by Mahim Jain, while Devendra Chaubisa proposed the vote of thanks.
Narayan Seva Sansthan has been working in the field of social service since 1985. Its founder, Padma Shri Kailash ‘Manav’, has been recognized for his contribution to the field of service, while President Prashant Agarwal received the President’s Award in 2023 for his contribution to the empowerment of Divyangjans.
According to the Sansthan, it has so far provided free artificial limbs to more than 40,200 Divyangjans and delivered free medical services to over 4.54 lakh Divyangjans in India and abroad.
