The National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TV BRICS to promote students’ creative works and strengthen academic and cultural exchanges between India and BRICS+ countries.
The MoU was signed on September 11, 2026, at the NID Delhi Centre. It provides a framework for joint educational and cultural initiatives in areas including media, film, design and visual communication.
Dr. Ashok Mondal, Director, NID Ahmedabad, who signed the MoU on behalf of the institute, described the partnership as an important step towards advancing design diplomacy across the BRICS media space.
“Signing this Memorandum of Understanding between National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad and TV BRICS in New Delhi marks a pivotal milestone in advancing design diplomacy across the BRICS media space,” Dr. Mondal said.
He added that the partnership assumes particular significance as India hosts the 18th BRICS Summit after assuming the BRICS chairship, and aligns with the vision of promoting Indian design globally through “Design in India, Design for the World.”
Under the partnership, TV BRICS’ international reach will provide an opportunity to showcase the visual storytelling, films and design research of NID’s Film and Video Communication students to audiences across BRICS+ countries. In return, NID Ahmedabad will welcome and screen film works from countries within the TV BRICS network.
According to NID, the reciprocal exchange is expected to encourage cross-cultural dialogue and create international networks for experts, filmmakers, researchers and faculty members. The institute also sees the partnership as a platform for creating new opportunities for creative communities across member nations.
TV BRICS was represented by CEO and Editor-in-Chief Janna Tolstikova, International Cooperation Division Director Aleksandra Burman, and Evgeny Mishin, Head of the South Asia and Middle East Department. Representatives from NID Ahmedabad included Andrea Noronha, Discipline Lead, Furniture & Interior Design, and Jasswini Bet, Administrative Officer, Director’s Office.
TV BRICS operates a group of television channels in six languages and promotes the image and cultural content of BRICS+ countries through the exchange of professional video content among national media companies and film producers. Its network broadcasts in Russian, English, Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish and Arabic, featuring news, documentaries and cultural projects.
