IndiGo passengers will now have to pay higher charges for several services on domestic flights, with the airline revising fees for infant travel, excess baggage, unaccompanied minors, priority services and travel certificates.
Under the revised charges, the fee for infants travelling with an accompanying adult has been increased to Rs 3,000 from the earlier Rs 2,000. The revised fee applies to infants aged more than three days and up to two years. As per IndiGo’s rules, infants cannot occupy a separate seat and are required to travel on the lap of an accompanying adult. Only one infant is permitted per adult passenger. The applicable infant fee must be paid at the time of booking, and passengers may be required to carry valid proof of the child’s age while travelling. The airline has also increased its excess baggage charge for domestic flights. Passengers carrying baggage beyond their permitted allowance will now have to pay Rs 800 per kg, compared with the earlier charge of Rs 700 per kg.
The revision means passengers with excess luggage will pay an additional Rs 100 for every kilogram beyond their applicable baggage allowance. IndiGo has also raised the fee for its unaccompanied minor service from Rs 5,000 to Rs 5,999. The service is applicable to children travelling without an accompanying adult and is subject to the airline’s eligibility and travel rules. Charges for priority check-in and priority boarding have also been revised. The combined priority service fee has been increased to Rs 650 from Rs 450, resulting in an increase of Rs 200 for passengers opting for the service. In addition, IndiGo has raised its travel certificate fee from Rs 200 to Rs 300. The latest revisions will increase the cost of several optional and passenger-related services for those travelling on domestic IndiGo flights, even though the basic airfare may remain unchanged.
