Sweet Potato Chaat & Crispy Sweet Potato Fries — two delicious ways to enjoy the natural sweetness, fibre, vitamins and wholesome goodness of this humble superfood.
🍠 1. Sweet Potato Chaat
Quick • Tangy • Healthy
Ingredients:
Sweet potatoes, boiled and cubed • onion • tomato • coriander • lemon juice • chaat masala • roasted cumin powder • salt • pomegranate seeds
Method:
Boil or steam the sweet potatoes until tender. Cut them into bite-sized cubes and let them cool slightly. Add onion, tomato, coriander and pomegranate seeds. Sprinkle with chaat masala, cumin powder and salt. Finish with a generous squeeze of lemon juice. Toss gently and serve.
My tip: Add a little green chutney for an extra kick.
🍠 2. Crispy Sweet Potato Fries
Crispy • Easy • Kid-friendly
Ingredients:
Sweet potatoes • cornflour • paprika or chilli powder • garlic powder • salt • black pepper • oil
Method:
Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into thin strips. Pat them dry thoroughly. Toss with cornflour, spices, salt and a little oil. Spread in a single layer on a baking tray and bake at 200°C for about 25–30 minutes, turning once halfway through. Serve hot with a yogurt or mint dip.
My Tip: Don’t overcrowd the tray—this helps the fries become crisp rather than soft.
