1. India wins first gold at Asian Games
India’s women’s cricket team defeated Sri Lanka by 147 runs to win the country’s first gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games. Smriti Mandhana starred with 79 runs and also became the first woman to cross 11,000 international runs.
2. India completes golden double in Kabaddi
India won both the men’s and women’s kabaddi gold medals at the Asian Games. The men defeated Iran 40–34, while the women also beat Iran 37–34.
3. Mirabai Chanu wins Asian Games silver
Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu ended India’s 28-year wait for a silver medal in Asian Games weightlifting. Her achievement came during a strong medal run for the Indian contingent.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the EU and IMF understand the need to help Ukraine cover its budget financing gap as the war with Russia continues.
5. Nepal calls for grants for flood recovery
Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah told the UN General Assembly that his country needs grants rather than loans to help recover from the effects of flooding and climate-related disasters.
