GTU’s SETU Programme Promotes Safety, Health, Dignity and Gender Equality on Campus

The programme was organised around three key pillars — Suraksha (Safety), Swasthya (Health) and Samanta (Equality) — emphasising women’s safety, physical and nutritional well-being, gender sensitisation and the creation of inclusive institutional environments. A Free Health Check-up Camp was also organised as part of the initiative to encourage health awareness and preventive healthcare among participants.
The programme featured expert sessions by distinguished speakers from academia and the healthcare sector. Dr. Margi Parekh, Professor, B.K. School of Professional and Management Studies, Gujarat University, delivered a session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, highlighting institutional responsibilities, workplace dignity, and the mechanisms for preventing and addressing sexual harassment.
Priyam Sharma, Clinical Dietitian at Vachhani Hospital and Technical Research Assistant at IIT Gandhinagar, addressed the importance of nutrition and healthy living. Her session highlighted balanced nutrition, preventive healthcare and healthy lifestyle practices, with particular emphasis on promoting women’s overall well-being.
The programme was organised under the patronage of Dr. Vaibhav Bhatt, Hon’ble In-Charge Vice Chancellor, GTU, with Dr. K. N. Kher, Registrar, GTU, serving as Co-Patron. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Komal R. Borisagar, SETU Nodal Officer, GTU, along with the Women Development Centre (WDC) team members.
Through the SETU Programme, GTU reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a campus culture that prioritises safety, health, dignity, equality and mutual respect. The initiative aimed to strengthen awareness among students, faculty members and other stakeholders while encouraging collective responsibility towards building safer, healthier and more inclusive academic spaces.
The programme reflected GTU’s continued efforts to integrate gender equity, health awareness and institutional responsibility into university life, reinforcing the vision of a campus where every individual is respected, supported and empowered.
