Ahmedabad, June 27: India is set to make history by hosting the prestigious World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) in 2029, a landmark achievement driven by the visionary initiative of Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) and the strong backing of the Ministry of Home Affairs under the leadership of Amit Shah.

The journey began on June 9, 2022, when RRU Vice-Chancellor Professor (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel submitted a detailed proposal to the Ministry, outlining the university’s ambition to serve as the nodal agency for hosting the WPFG. The proposal aligned with India’s broader vision of promoting sports as a platform for international cooperation and peace, echoing the spirit of a “Sporting India moment.”

The World Police and Fire Games, an Olympic-style multi-sport event, unite law enforcement and fire service personnel from across the globe. RRU’s proposal emphasized the event’s potential to boost local tourism, create employment, and strengthen global ties among security organizations.

RRU demonstrated its readiness by proposing to develop world-class infrastructure by 2027. The confidence and planning behind the bid impressed the visiting delegation from the California Police Athletic Federation (CPAF) in October 2024, who acknowledged RRU’s preparedness and enthusiasm.

India’s successful bid to host WPFG 2029 stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts led by RRU and bolstered by the unwavering support of Amit Shah and the Ministry of Home Affairs. The event is poised to showcase India’s sporting excellence and its growing role in fostering international camaraderie among uniformed forces.
