Vadodara’s men’s team produced a spirited performance to topple top seeds Ahmedabad 3-2 and storm into the final of the team championship on the second day of the Gujarat State and Inter-District Table Tennis Championships 2025, organised by the Gujarat State Table Tennis Association (GSTTA) at the Late M. P. Mittra Indoor Stadium, Haresh Sangtani Sports Complex, Adipur, Gandhidham, from October 14 to 18.

The championship is supported by the Sports Authority of Gujarat and co-sponsored by the Gandhidham Chamber of Commerce & Industries, while the Kachchh District Table Tennis Association (KDTTA) serves as the venue partner. Stiga continues its association as the equipment sponsor for the meet.

For Vadodara, star paddler Pratham Madlani lived up to expectations, winning both his ties, while senior player Jalay Mehta held his nerve in the deciding match to seal the team’s place in the final. They will now face defending champions Surat, who cruised past Bhavnagar with a convincing 3-0 victory.

Surat’s women’s team also continued their dominant run, crushing Bhavnagar 3-0 to book their berth in the final and move a step closer to defending their crown. They will take on Ahmedabad, who outplayed Navsari 3-1 in the semi-finals.

In the Junior Boys (U-19) category, defending champions Bhavnagar, who beat Surat 3-1, will meet Aravalli, who recorded a 3-1 win over Ahmedabad in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Ahmedabad’s Junior Girls (U-19) team booked their final berth with a clinical 3-0 win over Navsari.

The Sub-Junior Boys (U-15) final promises to be an exciting contest between Ahmedabad, who stunned top seeds Kachchh 3-0, and Rajkot, who overcame second seeds Surat 3-1.

In a repeat of last year’s Sub-Junior Girls (U-15) final, top seeds Surat will once again clash with second seeds Bhavnagar, as the Surat girls look to avenge their 2024 finals defeat.
