The Feline Club of India (FCI) has announced its grand Cat Championship Show 2025, lovingly rebranded this year as “Cat’s Day Out”, scheduled for December 7 at EKA Club, Kankaria. Returning for its fourth edition since 2022, the event promises glamour, purr-sonality, and star power—at the same venue that recently hosted the Filmfare Awards. This time, however, the spotlight belongs entirely to the feline celebrities.

Celebrity Cat Parade: From Persian Royals to Bengal Supermodels

“The show will feature an international judge evaluating more than 300 cats, representing breeds such as Persian, Bengal, Classic Long Hair, Exotic Short Hair, Maine Coon and many more,” shared Saquib Pathan, President, FCI.

He added that FCI has taken special pride in recognising India’s very own street-born superstars by registering the indigenous breed ‘INDIMAU’, encouraging them to shine on stage just like their pedigreed co-contestants.

Paws, Whiskers & Wisdom: A Day for Cat Lovers

FCI Gujarat President Zahid Khan explained that the event will offer engaging activities, a knowledge corner on feline wellbeing, and expert guidance from veterinarians. Visitors can also adopt a cat from NGOs present—because every superstar deserves a loving home and a loyal fan.

Adding a vet’s perspective, Dr. Chirag Javia, Founder of Pets & Paws Veterinary Hospital, stressed the importance of daily check-ups—ears, eyes, skin, and mood—because behind every glamorous whisker is a caring human who keeps them shining.

The Experts Agree: It’s Time Cats Get Their Spotlight

All three experts noted that cats are long overdue for some devoted attention. “Let’s stop treating them as the younger sibling of dogs,” they said.

With a hint of humour, Zahid added that in today’s compact homes, a pet that is adorable, independent, and slightly dramatic fits perfectly—and that’s where cats win, paws down.

Dr. Chirag chimed in with a reality check, “Even if you step out for a couple of days, your cat can hold the fort. She’s emotionally balanced, loyal, and doesn’t file noise complaints with your neighbours. Dogs need daily outings, registrations, and sometimes negotiate with cranky neighbours—cats, on the other hand, blend seamlessly into home life.”

A Cat Carnival Awaits

Over 50 stalls from leading pet-care brands—featuring food, accessories, grooming products and services—will transform the venue into a feline fairground.

The show will be open to the public from 11 am to 7 pm.

Join the Paw-ty!

FCI invites all cat enthusiasts, proud pet parents, and curious first-timers to join “Cat’s Day Out” and celebrate the elegance, charm, and irresistible attitude of Ahmedabad’s most glamorous whiskered celebrities.
