Jaipur Music Stage Opens with Stirring Performances at Jaipur Literature Festival 2026

The First India News Jaipur Music Stage (JMS) opened on a vibrant note at Jaipur Literature Festival, hosted at Hotel Clarks Amer, marking the beginning of three days of eclectic live music celebrating India’s contemporary soundscape.
The opening evening featured Travellers, an immersive production by internationally acclaimed sarod virtuoso Soumik Datta, recipient of the 2025 Eastern Eye ACTA Award for Music. Blending sarod with ambient soundscapes, field recordings, and spoken word, the performance formed part of Datta’s nationwide Melodies in Slow Motion tour and offered audiences a deeply reflective sonic journey.
Day 1 also saw a high-energy set by the Vasu Dixit Collective, led by singer-composer and filmmaker Vasu Dixit. Known for their Electronic-Folk sound rooted in Kannada and Hindi traditions, the ensemble delivered contemporary reinterpretations of works by saint-poets Basavanna and Kabir, captivating the audience with spirited, genre-blending arrangements.
