The National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad marked a significant academic milestone with the successful conduct of its 45th Convocation at the NID Gandhinagar Campus on Thursday. The ceremony celebrated the graduation of 543 students across diverse design disciplines, reaffirming the Institute’s commitment to nurturing globally relevant and socially responsive design professionals .

The convocation was graced by Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), who delivered the convocation address virtually as Chief Guest.  Dinesh Kumar Singh, Distinguished Scientist and Director of the Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC), ISRO, was also present, adding to the stature of the occasion.

The ceremony revolved around the theme ‘Imagination to Impact: Narrative to Reality’, reflecting NID’s philosophy of transforming creative ideas into meaningful, real-world solutions. Drawing inspiration from the metaphor of a growing tree, the theme highlighted design as a catalyst for community, knowledge, and sustainable growth.

As part of the celebrations, the Institute showcased the creative works and design explorations of graduating students through a Graduate and Discipline Display. The exhibition, open to the public from January 23 to January 25, 2026, offers insights into innovative projects spanning Communication Design, Industrial Design, Textile, Apparel and Lifestyle Accessory Design, IT Integrated Programmes, and Inter-Disciplinary Design Studies.

During the convocation, NID also honoured outstanding student contributions with the Shanta Keshavan Awards for excellence in design, leadership, and community engagement. Additionally, the prestigious Pride of NID Ahmedabad Award 2025–26 was jointly conferred upon eminent alumni Mr. Jinan K. B. and Mr. David Abraham, recognising their sustained and transformative contributions to the design landscape.

The 45th Convocation concluded as a landmark event in NID Ahmedabad’s legacy, celebrating creativity, dedication, and the transition of young designers into professional practice while reinforcing the Institute’s enduring impact on design education in India and beyond .
