Free Corrective Surgeries and Advanced Artificial Limb Support for Persons with Disabilities in Ahmedabad

For thousands of persons living with physical disabilities, the journey towards mobility and independence often remains out of reach because of financial constraints. In a significant step towards changing that reality, Narayan Seva Sansthan (NSS), in collaboration with its CSR partner Ingersoll Rand, will organise a Mega Free Disability Surgery Screening and 3D-Printed Modular Artificial Limb Measurement Camp in Ahmedabad on July 26, offering renewed hope to those in need.

The camp will screen eligible beneficiaries for free corrective surgeries and conduct measurements for advanced Japanese and German technology-based 3D-printed Narayan Modular Artificial Limbs, specially designed to restore mobility and improve quality of life.

Addressing the media, Bhagwan Prasad Gaur, Head of Media and Public Relations, Narayan Seva Sansthan, said the organisation has remained committed to restoring dignity and self-reliance to persons who have lost limbs due to accidents, illnesses or other causes.

“Our primary objective is to restore dignity and self-reliance to persons with disabilities. Inspired by our founder, Padma Shri awardee Kailash ‘Manav’, Narayan Seva Sansthan has been serving humanity continuously for over four decades,” Gaur said.

He added that the Ahmedabad camp has been organised to ensure that people from the city and surrounding regions can access free disability surgery screening and measurements for customised modular artificial limbs without having to travel long distances.

Highlighting the broader mission of the organisation, Prashant Agarwal, President, Narayan Seva Sansthan, said empowerment goes beyond medical treatment.

“True empowerment begins when we remove the barriers that prevent people from living with dignity and self-reliance. Our mission is not merely to provide medical support but to restore hope, confidence and opportunity. No individual should be denied the chance to walk, work and live independently because of disability or financial hardship,” he said.

Agarwal invited eligible beneficiaries to participate in the camp and take the first step towards a more independent and inclusive future.

During the press conference, Bhagwan Prasad Gaur and Kailash Choudhary, Ashram In-charge of NSS Ahmedabad, officially unveiled the camp poster.

Beneficiaries selected during the camp will receive their customised modular artificial limbs free of cost at a follow-up camp approximately two months later. Those requiring corrective surgeries will also be identified and provided free surgical treatment at the institution’s state-of-the-art hospital in Udaipur.

Narayan Seva Sansthan has previously organised similar mega disability camps in Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Agra, transforming thousands of lives through free screenings, corrective surgeries and advanced prosthetic support. Following Ahmedabad, the next camp is scheduled to be held in Ballari, Karnataka, in August.

Today, the organisation’s impact extends far beyond individual camps. It has provided more than 40,200 free artificial limbs to persons with disabilities in India and abroad and delivered free medical treatment to over 454,000 beneficiaries, making it one of the country’s leading organisations in disability rehabilitation.

The institution’s humanitarian work has also earned national recognition. Founder Kailash Manav Agarwal was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2008 for his contribution to social service, while Prashant Agarwal received the National Award in 2023 from President Droupadi Murmu for advancing the empowerment of persons with disabilities.
