Gujarati cinema is getting a big-screen push with Zee Studios making its official foray into the industry with Tom & Cherry, a family entertainer starring veteran actor Siddharth Randeria, along with Dhanya Doshi and Anurag Prapanna. The film hits theatres worldwide on August 28, 2026.
Directed by Dharmesh Mehta, Tom & Cherry promises a lively mix of family bonds, laughter, love, emotions and unexpected twists—the ingredients that have long powered Gujarati family entertainers. The makers are positioning the film as a complete family watch, designed to appeal across age groups, particularly during the festive season.
The film has already generated an encouraging buzz, with its trailer receiving a positive response from audiences and critics.

For Siddharth Randeria, the film is more than just another release—it represents an opportunity to give Gujarati cinema a bigger national and international platform.
“Tom & Cherry is a film that celebrates family entertainment, laughter, love, relationships, and the joy of togetherness,” Randeria said. “The fantastic response the trailer received from audiences has doubled my excitement.”
He added that the film could open a new chapter for Gujarati cinema on the big screen, expressing confidence that audiences would embrace it with the same warmth with which the team created it.
A bigger canvas for Gujarati cinema
Produced by Dhea Patel, Ruchit Patel and Sanjay Desai under Dhea Filmworks and HG Pictures, with Haresh Patel as co-producer, the film is written by Vinod Sarvaiya and Humayun Makrani and presented on a grand scale by Zee Studios.
The release comes at a time when regional cinema is increasingly finding audiences beyond its traditional markets. With its strong storytelling traditions and expanding audience base, Gujarati cinema is being seen as a space with significant potential for mainstream and global audiences.

Tom & Cherry is being positioned as the first chapter of a larger vision to take Gujarati cinema and music to national and international audiences.
With Dharmesh Mehta at the helm, a screenplay by Vinod Sarvaiya and Humayun Makrani, and Siddharth Randeria leading the cast, the film is aiming to make a strong theatrical impression—and give Gujarati family entertainment a wider stage.
The Tom & Cherry ride begins August 28.
