Upon his return, Captain Shukla presented the compilation of designs and their compelling stories to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, celebrating the fusion of Indian creativity and space exploration.

This initiative stemmed from a collaborative design brief shared by ISRO, in partnership with NASA, inviting students to create memorabilia that reflect India’s rich cultural heritage and its inspiring space journey. A total of 55 student teams from NID Ahmedabad responded with enthusiasm, submitting over 200 innovative concepts. After a rigorous selection process, 16 standout designs were chosen—each meeting stringent technical, dimensional, and material requirements suitable for a zero-gravity environment.

These 16 souvenirs, deeply rooted in Indian craft and storytelling, symbolize the spirit of innovation and national pride. The project was guided by Vipul Vinzuda, Senior Faculty in Transportation & Automobile Design, with support from fellow faculty members and the ISRO team. Dr. Ashok Mondal, Director of NID Ahmedabad, and Prof. Vijai Singh Katiyar, Activity Chairperson for Education, played pivotal roles in encouraging and mentoring the participants.

The design community shared a heartfelt message:

“We salute ISRO for its relentless pursuit of excellence and for propelling India to new frontiers in space. This tribute honors our courageous astronauts and scientists whose dedication continues to inspire generations. These souvenirs are a humble offering of love and respect from Indian designers, celebrating your extraordinary work and the dreams you ignite across the nation and the world.”

This moment marks a proud chapter in India’s creative and scientific legacy—where design meets destiny among the stars.
