Ahmedabad turned into a gateway to the world this week as the India International Travel Mart (IITM) opened at the YMCA International Convention Centre, bringing together a vibrant mix of global destinations, tourism boards, and travel industry leaders. With over 100 exhibitors and participation from more than 10 countries, the two-day event highlights the city’s growing importance as a key hub for travel and tourism business in western India. The vibrant city of Ahmedabad today witnessed the grand opening of the India International Travel Mart (IITM) at the YMCA International Convention Centre, bringing together key stakeholders from the global travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. The two-day B2B travel exhibition, taking place from 20 – 21 March 2026, serves as a dynamic platform for tourism boards, travel operators, hoteliers, destination management companies, and service providers to connect with travel trade professionals from across the region.

The exhibition floor buzzed with activity as tourism stakeholders—from airlines and hotels to destination management companies and cruise operators—connected with travel agents, tour planners, and corporate buyers. The event offers a comprehensive showcase of holiday options, from luxury escapes and cultural journeys to adventure tourism and MICE travel experiences.
This year, Tourism Malaysia took center stage as the Partner Country, presenting a diverse range of travel experiences aimed at Indian travellers. Its participation reflects deepening tourism ties between India and Malaysia and underscores the rising demand for international travel among Indian consumers.
Speaking at the inauguration, Sanjay Hakhu, Director of Sphere Travelmedia & Exhibitions, emphasized the importance of Ahmedabad as a growing travel market. “Ahmedabad and Gujarat represent a dynamic and expanding base for travel demand. Through IITM, we aim to create a powerful platform where global tourism stakeholders can directly engage with the regional travel trade,” he said.

Echoing this sentiment, Rohit Hangal, Director of Sphere Travelmedia & Exhibitions, highlighted the broader Mrimpact of such platforms. “The India International Travel Mart has consistently acted as a catalyst for tourism business growth. Hosting it in Ahmedabad allows us to tap into strong outbound travel demand while giving industry players a chance to build meaningful partnerships,” he noted.
The event also reflects larger trends shaping India’s travel landscape, including a surge in outbound tourism, increased interest in experiential travel, and growing demand for specialised segments such as wellness, adventure, and corporate travel.
As industry professionals exchange ideas, explore new destinations, and forge collaborations, IITM Ahmedabad is not just showcasing travel opportunities—it is actively shaping the future of tourism business in the region.
With strong global participation and a focus on meaningful networking, the travel mart is expected to open new avenues for partnerships and growth, reinforcing Ahmedabad’s position as a rising centre for travel trade engagement in India.
