Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, is being celebrated with joy, prayers, and a spirit of unity across India today after the crescent moon was sighted on Friday evening.

Across major cities, thousands gathered at mosques and Eidgahs early in the morning to offer special prayers. Families donned new clothes, exchanged greetings of “Eid Mubarak,” and shared traditional sweets and festive meals, reflecting the festival’s message of gratitude and togetherness.

Scenes of communal harmony were visible in places like Jaipur, where people showered flower petals on worshippers heading for prayers, symbolising brotherhood and unity across communities.

However, celebrations were not without variations. In parts of Karnataka, some communities observed a subdued Eid, choosing symbolic mourning gestures while still participating in prayers and charity. Meanwhile, in Hubballi, ongoing construction work disrupted arrangements at a major Eidgah, affecting attendance.

Leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several chief ministers extended greetings, emphasizing peace, compassion, and social harmony.

Overall, Eid 2026 in India reflects both celebration and reflection—uniting communities in faith, charity, and shared cultural traditions.
